AAA room only discounts

Riu girl - we did NOT get off for New Years - only the 4 nights after when we switch hotels. We are staying at the Contemporary for the first 3 nights of our vacation and did not get a discount on that. Sorry I was not clearer - I was just so excited to get a discount on a Royal Palm Club room....

Alamabaalan, May I ask how much you paid for the 2 All Star rooms? We are thinking of November and would need 2 rooms. It would help me decide if AAA is worth joining! Thanks!

We applied AAA discount yesterday. The first CM said they were not out yet without even looking. Guess she didn't feel like working. :confused3 I made my DH call back and the CM was very helpful. We are staying at Pop in May for seven nights and the total was $656. I am so excited because our room is paid off already and now we can work on saving for tickets.

Yes you can apply the AAA/CAA rate to a room ressie later if there are any rooms left. I just changed my room only to AAA/CAA today.

I have booked a trip for Summer 2009. I am using a travel agent and I was wondering if anyone had ever been able to apply AAA discounts to a trip booked through a travel agent?

Stashbin-

I booked our Jan. 2009 trip through Dreams Unlimited and they were able to apply my AAA rate. When you call Disney directly, they can also apply this rate.

Be sure to ask your agent first, but I think that as a rule, the discount applies regardless of how you book.

From what I understand, you can book the AAA discount on a room only reservation. However, if you want a package (room, tickets & dining), and want the AAA discount on the room portion of the package, you must book it through AAA.

Thanks for the information. I have another question too. In the past we have paid for an upgrade to a preferred room ( at POP). By paying this additional fee we are supposed to be guaranteed a room close to the buses and the common area. However, both times we happened to pay the fee we were stuck out in no-man's land and had to walk carrying two very tired children. We would like to be close to the common area (as everyone with children would). How can I make sure we get a room close to the buses and common areas without having to pay for it? When I asked my travel agent about it, he said he requests it and then when we arrived we requested it again and still got stuck in the boondocks! Help!

What resort are you staying in this time? Are you staying in the POP again? The POP is pretty spread out and even their preferred locations can be a bit of a walk to the main building. I had a preferred building at the Allstar Music and those buildings are the 2 Calypso buildings which were a great location.
Take a look at this thread, there is really great information on the resorts http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=236234 and I would look at the resort maps to get an idea where you would like to stay and then have your travel agent put that in your reservation as a request. I've had pretty good luck with the requests that I have made in the past.
Here is a link to the maps http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/

Thanks! I appreciate your help. Yes we are staying at Pop again. (my kids love it there). I am going to look at the maps and see what my travel agent can do.:goodvibes
