AAA Room-Only Discount vs. Package at the Poly

I still have to crunch some numbers, but I'm trying to decide between a room-only AAA discount at the Polynesian. (Then we would book our tickets separately.) Or, we could do a package that includes room, Magic Your Way tickets and the basic dining plan.

What would you do? I'm a little disappointed in the new restrictions of the Dining Plan, which is why I'm considering booking all separately. But is the package really the way to go?

I do not consider myself a Disney pro, but I went through the exact situation when deciding for my family of 5 at the Poly.

We decided to go with the package. DH wanted everything paid for before the trip and the flexibility to eat what we wanted and not feel like we were watching everything we did. I am soooooo happy with our decision. I know we may have saved some booking as you are considering, but we just felt that the other choice would be more enjoyable for us.
