Is AAA rate worth it? I booked the room myself through WDW but haven't paid the deposit yet. Will the AAA rate be a savings for July at GF? Was hoping for an AP rate but none available for Deluxes.

If you are doing room only, you can find out the rate through Disney- but if it's a package- you need to contact AAA :)

Just take 15% off the posted room rack rate and that will tell you what the room cost will be. Not sure of the % discount on tickets if any.

Southernson, I see you are from SC, I am in Lexington. Glad to see other SC people on here.

I guess you probably already have an answer if you were able to get through first thing this morning but I'll give you some examples of what the aaa rate should be if there is availability (remember that they won't always tell you if you are actually getting the aaa rate, they might enter that you have aaa and a price will come up and they don't necessarily know that that is just the regular rack rate) -

For the Grand Floridian in July, you are in regular season through July 7, then on July 8 you go to value season. In regular season you can save 10%, in regular season 15%.

Garden View -
rack rate value season w/tax is 421.88, aaa rate 358.59 Savings of 63.29
regular season 478.13, aaa 430.31 Savings of 47.82
Lagoon View -
value season 489.38, aaa 415.97 Savings of 73.41
regular season $562.50, aaa 506.25 Savings of 56.25

And the savings just get bigger as you go up categories.
AAA membership for one person usually is around 50-60. So if you are going during value season, just one night of savings at the GFmore than pays for your membership, in regular season it's close to one night but will actually get into the second night before you are actually seeing a savings. Using the least possible savings (garden view regular season), a 5 night stay would save you 179.10 after you deduct the cost of a aaa membership. A 5 night stay in value season in a MK view you could see something like 330 savings after paying for your membership.

So for the break even of around one nights stay at the GF you get the year of aaa roadside as well as discounts for any other travel, and any little plusses that my come with having aaa. If you book through aaa instead of through disney there are some extras but I dont know if they only apply to packages- ask for a diamond parking card at your aaa office when you get your membership. somee offices just give them out even without the booking.

Beth Cam,

You were right on. It saved me about $300 on the 5 nights at GF. Not bad for a quick trip to the office.

Thanks guys!
