AAA Questions---How do I get it?

So I booked a Magic Your Way Package. What is the deal with AAA. Do you join AAA? Is it worth it? If I join AAA, what is the discount applied too, if I bought the package?

If you want the AAA discount on a PACKAGE then you MUST book your trip through a AAA travel agent. That means that if you want to get a room, park tickets, and the Disney Dining Plan, you MUST use AAA agent. You basically get the discount off the room, but this also allows you to purchase the dining plan.

Some people, like myself, only want the discount on the ROOM ONLY, and that's when we're allowed to call Disney directly to see if the AAA discount is available for the particular resort and room type and dates that we want. Since I booked directly with Disney, I CANNOT purchase the Dining Plan since it's not a package, it's only a room I booked.

My discount on a Disney Moderate room in Value Season is 15%, which equates to about $25 per night. $165 rack rate, discounted to $140.25.

There are other benefits to joining AAA. Roadside assistance -- discounts on other travel and consumer products. Try looking at aaa.com .

Roadside assistance is the primary reason that we have AAA. We view it as an insurance policy of sorts. There are, indeed, other Roadside Assistance providers. AAA is the only one that I've ever had, so I really can't compare. Whatever roadside assistance you have -- if you have to use it even one time, that alone will be worth the annual membership cost.

The last time I had to call on AAA Roadside assistance, I (a middle-age female) was driving alone from Dallas TX back home to Atlanta. Driving my mother's car, I had a tire to blow out on the interstate somewhere west of the TX/LA state line. Not a highly populated area -- I'm glad that it was daylight -- I'm glad for the invention of cellphones -- I was glad to be a AAA member. AAA-affiliated towtruck was there within about an hour. They towed me to the next small town, where I got a new tire. All that I had to pay for was the tire.

We also frequently use AAA Triptix, which are now available to members online. We used to have to call and wait for them to be manually assembled and mailed to us. We also order maps (free to members).
