Just wondering if anyone has used the preferred AAA parking areas, and anything about them--is the area much closer to entrance, usually available spaces any time of day etc. :confused3

Also, had anyone done the character story telling at MK for AAA bookings?

Thanks

I didn't use the parking pass but we did the storytelling. it was cute we had aladdin. But you don't know who you get until right before. We had great pictures and my kids loved it.

I have parked in all 4 parks and all are close to the front of the parks. MGM (if my memory is correct) is the furthest away - on the other side of the bus stops, but still close enough to walk. Just show your parking voucher to the lot attendant and you will be directed to that parking area.

HTH!!! :teeth:

Can anyone tell me the locations of the AAA parking vs the disabled parking?

Thanks!

Kim

They were right next to to handicapp parking.

AAA parking passes are great for park hopping. You really save time.

Hope this helps

Do you just show your AAA card or is there a special parking pass you need to get??????????

They sent me a AAA parking permit along with the rest of my stuff when I booked an AAA vacation with them.

You can't go wrong with AAA...... The membership cost is basicly free once you've added in all of the savings. You will make money. I'm surprised that no everyone is a member.

I am an AAA member. Will AAA send me a pass to park in this area even though I didn't book my vacation through them?

Okay, let's see...
= The Magic Kingdom AAA Diamond (and disabled) parking is further from the TTC than those areas are from ANY other park's designated locations to the respective parks' entrances. Remember, you've got to walk under the roadway that goes past the TTC. It's a pretty good hike, and it's NOT serviced by the trams.
= AAA Diamond Parking spots are limited at each park, may not be available every day (due to either blackout dates or just already being full). These spaces are just beyond the disabled spots.
= Yes, you do need the actual AAA Diamond Parking Pass; your AAA membership card is not sufficient.
= Each office or region may have different rules regarding distribution. Some require you to book your entire package through them; others may hand out the pass (on request) to anyone who buys their park tickets from AAA; rarely but possibly, you may be able to get one just by going into an office and requesting it.
= You still have to pay to park.

No, and techinically you have to book the package via them. You might get lucky, but they only have to give it to you if you book a package.

I have AAA and would NEVER book via them so I have never had this pass. No biggie. Considering how many HORROR stories of AAA TAs who are basically CLUELESS and the multiple errors they make, I can walk a little farther....

Am I reading this right? If I park in the AAA lot at MK, I have farther to walk than if I park in the general parking lot, and there's no tram service??
What would the advantage be to parking there :confused3

You are reading this right. The only advantage is if you drive to MK and stay for fireworks. After you get back to the TTC you won't have to wait for a tram to take you to your car. But you still have to walk quite a way. It's not that useful for MK.

Also, during the slower seasons, they won't open a AAA parking lane at all. This has happened to us a few times at MGM and Epcot.

Thanks for the response. :)
We are going next week during free DDP, so crowds prob. won't be small.
May think about taking disney transport to MK instead of rental car.

I didn't think it was really that far away.... it was only maybe a 5 minute walk for us. What's 5 more minutes when you're walking around the whole day??

I bought one childs 7 day park hopper from AAA and got the diamond parking certificate. I bought the rest of my tickets from Ticketmania. Both ticket transactions were done on line.

The AAA diamond parking lot was right next to the handicapped lot. It was a short walk to the MK. We didn't have to wait for one of those noisy trams or try to remember where we parked.

My only complaint is that the parking lot people who let us pass by showing our Swan room key and the AAA parking certificate didn't clearly tell us which way to go! We circled two times before we were told to follow the green line. (One day with my daughter, we went around 3 times before I figured how to get to the AAA lot - and I normally have a good sense of direction!) I guess they don't want it to be too clearly mark! Once we passed the ticket gate and followed the green line, there was no other parking attendant to be seen. No one was in front of us,we just taught ourselves where to go.

Be careful re AAA "Discount Rates". I reserved a room last March for the 20% off rooms from Dec.4-9. I went in yesterday to convert it to a package at the "AAA Discount Rate" and it came out to $200 MORE than on the Disney website. Same date, same tickets, same dining plan. I called them today and got a major runaround. The TA I worked with said she "didn't know why" it was more and that I was the THIRD client who had had that difficulty. If that was the case. you would think THEY would find out WHY. But all they care about is getting their commission. When I really pressed them for the reason, they said I was getting some "perks" like free parking (can't use it because we are using Disney Transportation) and discounts on meals (can't use it because we are on the dining plan---which THEY sold me!) I now have a complaint lodged with the BBB. Don't make the same mistake I did in believing that a AAA Discount Rate means you are actually getting a discount. You're not!

Within the past couple years, one time we purchased tickets through AAA and I asked for (and received the parking pass). The other time I asked for the parking pass in person and they provided without my purchasing anything (I was in to get a map). Personally, I would rather walk the extra 5 minutes than wait for a tram, but that's me. As previously mentioned, the AAA parking areas are directly adjacent to the handicapped parking areas (so you know it can't be THAT far).

As someone else mentioned, they often don't have them available off-season, but we discovered they were handy when we were getting to a park late in the day (ie, park-hopping) and we always knew where our car was.
