Hey All- we are planning a trip with my in-laws and they recently went to their AAA office to get a quote for our upcoming trip. We typically book through a Disney TA and got a quote from her and they got theirs through AAA for about $400 less including a dining plan (Which our TA did not include in our quote) Is that possible?? I am thinking that they quoted for a different hotel category? I thought all AAA and Disney ties were severed a couple years ago.

If could supply more particulars like, resort, dates, dining plan, etc. then we can compare. AAA is no longer discounting Disney packages, you are correct.

I minor difference like quoting standard and preferred rooms can change the price greatly. You should look at the quote (with all the details - room, room type, check in/out, etc) from both the AAA TA and the other TA that specializes in Disney vacations.

The quote was for POR for 8 nights in a standard room. The AAA quote said it included a meal plan for the same price that the TA quoted for room + park tickets. It seems the AAA is too good to be true (aka, free dining) and I am worried my in laws are going to get a rude awakening when they get there. That can't be right, can it?

Could it be possible that the AAA agent quoted a different special than your TA? There are room discounts out depending on the time of year you're looking at. As PP's said, AAA does not have any deals with Disney, so their prices should be the same as what you see.

We are looking for November so there are no discounts released yet (that we or our TA know of) :confused3

Strange. I'd encourage you to look very closely and make sure it's apples to apples. I know some agents refund their commission and count that as a "discount" but from what I see it's not $400.

I think you should contact the AAA office & get a quote based on the same itinerary. They are TA's so...who knows? If it does indeed pan out to be true & include tix, room, & dining - I'd book with them rather than your TA.

Ok- here are the specifics, hopefully someone can help bc this still seems WAY to good to be true...

Nov 2016 8 nights (4th-12th) for DH, DD (7), DS (4) and myself

Royal Room @ POR through AAA= 1368.02 (no tickets or meal plan)
Royal Room @ POR through TA= 2219.65 (no tickets or meal plan)

Ok, I think I know how AAA is getting the lower price. Your TA is looking at the regular rack rate, accessible to any Disney agent. If I had to guess, the AAA agent either created a group to try and get the lower pricing, or already had a group for those dates. I have a group looking at February, and the prices that we were quoted for POR for a regular room would come to about $1354 for the 8 nights. That's probably where the discrepancy is coming from.

Ok, that makes some sense. We are going with additional family and would require 4 rooms total. Is there any negative with going through them then? Like, what happens if they created a group rate and we are the only 4 rooms that get used? Could this somehow end badly for us?

I'm not sure what Disney's penalty is if you drop below the minimum rooms required for group rates. I would just make sure you have something in writing that says AAA will honor the rate, because worst case scenario is Disney says they don't have enough rooms and raises the rate, but I don't know how that AAA office is planning on handling that if it happens.
