what's your recommendation? i'm planning a trip for october or november & used to go automatically to aaa, which was virtually the same as the late great mk kingdom club card. now that it;s defunct & i haven't planned a trip in 3 years i'm sooooo confused. thx!

I'd suggest watching this board as well as the discounts listed on DISboards at http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts.html Another place to check is mousesavers.com which does a pretty good job of comparing package vs. room-only rates.

Here is an example of the kind of savings you could get with a September room-only discount:

Values starting at $55 per night
Moderates starting at $85
AKL and WL starting at $119

I was able to save about 40% off rack rates with this code at WL for a woods view room (I was very happy to get any discount let alone such a good one). I think there are comparable savings with the Dream Maker package codes, although only the room part is discounted.

One other thing I picked up from this board is that many people book room-only using whatever discount they can get at the time of the reservation then later apply the room-only code to get a better discount, especially if they really must stay at a particular resort and/or have a specific room type and would be willing to pay whatever rate was originally booked at if a better discount did not come along later.

Oh gosh, Didn't you just love the MKC card?! I miss it. It was so easy, which is probably why it's gone.:(

I would call CRO and book the trip myself using my AAA rate.

Then I would watch the boards and Mousesavers for any discounts that may come up.

If a discount becomes available for the time you have reserved, call CRO back and apply the new discount to your ressies.

This is what we did for our September trip.

  • booked ourselves with our AAA discount
  • changed to code AZZ when the discount was made available.

I also believe that a lot of the travel companies will do this for you.

Thx for the info, everyone. I'm still very confused. I'm so used to doing it all in one stop & not having to compare rates. Now I'm wondering if all the comparison is worth it for what will ultimately end up being maybe $100 if I'm lucky.

Anyway, here's the question: what is CRO? Is that Central Reservations Something?

Thanks for the valuable advice! I'll keep comparing. :wave2:
