AAA is it worth it

We've been members for years. It saves a little on room only reservations at WDW (usually only about 10% or so), but we got the "buy one year get one year free" AP for US/IOA. They don't expire until Sept. 2005! I thought that alone paid for our membership! They also have some good deals on other attraction tickets, like SeaWorld, Busch Gardens etc. I know it is a little cheaper here to be a member than some other places. Even 4 hrs. away in Atlanta it is twice the price!

Check on mousesavers.com. AAA discounts range from 10-20% depending on the season and category (deluxe, etc). If no other codes are available it will save some $ on your room! AAA rates come out in June for the entire next year, so this year's rates (and available rooms) have been out since June 2003.

It was sure worth it to me the other day when it was 25 degrees outside and I accidentally locked myself out of my car with the engine running! They were there in less than 15 minutes. One roadside emergency pays will nearly pay for a year membership.

As far as WDW goes, we usually use the AAA discount to make our original reservations, then wait for deeper discounts. So far, we've always ended up with better discounts than the AAA, but it's nice to have just in case nothing else shows up.

We're planning on a Disneyland trip this summer and it's my understanding that the AAA package is the only one offering the unlimited fast past deal, so we'll probably use them to book that package as well.

I picked up tickets the other day at AAA(park hoppers). They were a little cheaper then buying through Disney. They also gave me a free parking pass. I'm not sure if they do that at all locations but was a nice bonus!

We bought our 5 day park hopper passes on Valentine's Day at our AAA for $221 each, which was a little cheaper than TDS.

We also booked our room at POFQ and saved 20% with our AAA discount. For 7 nights we saved $208 over the rack rate using AAA discount for the room. My sister's room at ASMov was $61 plus tax with AAA instead of $79 plus tax.

Just wanted you to know what we got. We've been members of AAA for a while. With a husband who is on the road for work it gives me peace of mind in case something should happen on the road.

Just wanted to add that although AAA wanted me to purchase airfare from them the rate they gave me was exactly the same at the airline website and the same rate from places like Travelocity, so we wouldn't save on airfare using AAA. At least not for our family.

You can also get an AAA discount(10/15%) at certain restaurants at both WDW and DL and a merchandise discount at World of Disney! princess:

We are joining before our trip in April...

I've already booked 2 hotels on the way down, and 2 hotels on the way home...the discounts equal almost $40.00 I expect to pay about $50.00 to join.

I'll also get the triptix from them for our roadtrip, with a new road map, info on rest area's etc.. Also i will get the disney parking lot pass, that allows a better parking lot, though I still have to pay the $7.00 per day

I also have read that SeaWorld offers a discount on tickets, I will check that info more and find out..

I know that Universal Studios offers GREAT discounts with AAA....

DH's truck, though it's a 2001 is out of roadside assistance due to mileage, and since we plan on driving that, it will ease my mind knowing I wont have to worry about a tow truck etc.. if the truck should break down and getting it to a Chevy dealership...

I think just the 4 hotels on the way down paid for it, but I may end up changing hotel reservations ONCE AGAIN in orlando and will use it for that too..

AAA is definately worth it!!! Just don't book through their agency without doing your homework first!!

We got CBR for $106 through WDW with the AAA card

AAA Agency wanted $116 for the same room!!!

Shoppie,

That's a good rate for CBR. When are you going?

Regarding AAA, we enjoy their TourBooks and maps which are free to members.

AAA can save on all kinds of things not just Disney trips. I had to get new glasses the other day and saved 30% at Lenscrafters. That alone ($145) made our membership worth it. I also did the lock the keys in the car with the car running deal. What's great about it is that it covers you as a member no matter what car you're in.

I just purchased nine 5 day hoppers from AAA on Saturday before the price increase. I saved $331 over what I would have paid at WDW. And as others have mentioned, you can get some decent rates at WDW and at many other places around the country.

I got a AAA rate of $69/night for the Pop Century Resort in September. We have used our card for discounts on hotels for our drive down and back home.

It is also nice to know what to do when you need help on the the road. In December, we left our electric cooler plugged into the cigarette lighter over night (by mistake) after we checked into a hotel. The next morning we got up and was all ready to head to WDW! Well the battery was dead. Within an hour of calling AAA we were on our way to Orlando!

So it has been worth it to us!

I've said this before, but it was worth the price of AAA, for us, just to get the parking pass!! It got us right by the park or tram every single time!! PM me for tips if you decide to go ahead, and would like them! ;)

Can you get the parking pass only without buyings tickets or lodging through AAA?

We're members but have never used this feature.

I too would like to know about the parking pass. I didn't here about this feature. We've been AAA members and booked 2 rooms (room only)through them. We saved $171. This is the first time we booked through AAA. It would be nice to know if there are any other seceret things none of us knew about from AAA. Thanks!

Although we used Dreams Unlimited for the first time last year, we have done quite well with AAA.

Another way to maximize savings with them is to get the Diamond Advantage credit card. You automatically get a 5% gasoline rebate, you earn a $50 voucher (can use toward WDW package) for every $5,000 spent, and they say you can save an additional 2% on selected travel packages (do not know if this applies to WDW) if you charge to the AAA card. They also have some really cute Disney travel merchandise for sale, and members get a nice discount. (Mickey icon luggage tags--way cool, Mickey fanny packs & travel wallets, Birnbaum guides, etc.)

Overall, we are happy with AAA membership and the card.

Does anyone know of any way to get a disount on a new membership? AAA sent us an invitation to join at a discounted rate last year - but we can't find it now. I think it had an expiration date anyway.
