AAA... Is it worth it?

I think it's worth it. I've had AAA since I bought my first car. Back then I was under my parents' AAA. Now I have the AAA Plus. DH wanted me to cancel it last year, said our insurance has roadside assistance, but I didn't feel comfortable driving without it. I'm so glad I renewed - 1 month later we were stuck on the highway, flat tire. They came out within 15 minutes and fixed it in less than 5 minutes! Plus, I use the discounts for travel and at stores. Always ask if the store you're in has a AAA discount because you can save 10-20%. I bought our Disney Passes at the AAA office and saved, I think 10%. I just booked our Disney trip for later this year and Passholder discounts aren't out yet but I was able to get a AAA discount on the room. The only negative for me is our AAA office employs some of the nastiest and most negative people in the world!

Like others have said, it is definitely worth it for the peace of mind. The hotel and other savings are a bonus ( although there have been a couple of years when the savings did wind up saving us more than the cost of the plan!)

My son just got his license and we added him on to our AAA policy...two weeks later, he needed a tow. In the rain. AAA came within 15 minutes.

For me, it is just nice knowing I can get a tow, a tire change, etc. even if it's 3:00 AM and not have to worry about an extra cost.

Our car insurance has towing, but what you do is submit your receipt and they reimburse you a certain percent. I'll stick with AAA.

I have been a member for over 20 years. The membership has always been worth it to me. My great aunt was a charter member of her local branch of AAA, so I had known about it all my life. That is why I have been a member so long at my age.

By the way, to the PPs who have AAA--drop roadside assistance, towing, etc from your insurance if you are going to use the AAA and save some money on the insurance bill. I know insurance companies push this, but I have turned them down for years. I have always been pleased with the AAA service.

I've had it since like 1990. I can't imagine not having it. I don't use it for any discounts. I always think about getting movie tickets but the office is not anywhere convenient to me so I never do. I just love the peace of mind it brings. It seems 1 or 2x a year I need them for something. Today as a matter of fact I woke to a dead battery. DH tried to jump but the way our vehicles were in the garage we couldn't get the cables to reach. Called AAA, they were here in 15 minutes, car jumped so fast, and that was that. Worth it to me!
