AAA Help

I am considering joining AAA for the discounted hotel rates. I already have a room booked at POP for Dec. 31 - Jan. 7. I called AAA this morning to get a quote to see if it would be worth joining for. What I am wondering is... if I booked the room with the AAA discount and Disney came out with a code would I still be able to apply that code?

I asked the same question a while back and I was told that you get one discount or the other, not both. Bummer!

That is correct. Disney only allows one discount. However, if a code does come out you can cancel your reservation with the AAA discount and start a new one with the better deal. Small World Vacations (WDWVacations.com) did this for us last year. They started out by getting us a AAA discount. As time went on two better deals came out so then cancelled our original ressie (with our permission) and got us the better deal. This happened twice and the last change ended up saving us about $800.00.
Please note however, that even if you join AAA there is no guarantee that you can get the discount. Disney only sets aside a certain number of rooms per resort for all discounts. Before using Small World (which we will ALWAYS use going forward) we had to call numerous times to try to apply a AAA discount to a reservation a number of years ago. If you can't get one right away keep calling every couple of days as Disney releases more if the resorts are not filling up.

My question is this...we are planning on joining AAA in December so that our membership will still be valid when we travel in November 2006. Do you need need a membership number when you make your original ressie? Or just at check-in?

I made a reservation on Saturday and my CM asked for the AAA number. She told me to bring ithe AAA card and ID with me at check-in. Others have said they weren't asked, but be prepared.
