AAA for dummies, please

How does the AAA *discount* work?
First you join, I get that, but are there only certain times the AAA discount is good for? Is it a decent discount?
I am going over a typical HOLIDAY period, but if it wold work, I would join.

Could someone clue in?

The AAA discount is between 10 and 20 percent, depending on the resort and the time of year. It is generally offered for most of the year, but I believe that the middle to end of Dec it may not be available. If you want a room only reservation with the AAA discount, you can call disney directly and make the reservation. If you want a package with the discount on the room portion of the package then you need to go through a AAA travel agent. There are only a limited number of rooms available with the discount, so sometimes you need to be somewhat flexible with your dates and or resort in order to get the discount.

One more thing not mentioned...

If you book a package with AAA but then a GA code, or DVR code or a PIN on your name comes out, your AAA TA can apply the code. Note that discounts are not stackables...

If you are booking a package thru AAA you don't have to buy the membership. I used AAA for my Nov trip, got the AAA discount then they applied the fall GP discount (didn't stack discounts but AAA got a better rate for me than just GP fall rate) and I haven't bought a membership. Another thing, my agent also booked my vehicle for me and saved me over $300 on the vehicle alone.

I will probably use the AAA next summer to save.
My upcoming trip is 12.24 - 12.29. Doubt any code could save me. LOL
