I never even thought to ask for AAA discounts on rooms, but I'm reading about them here. When do they come out? Can you just apply them to an existing reservation? Typically, what percentage off can I expect at AKL?

Sorry so many Q's, Thanks for any help on this!

We have a room only ressie through DU to stay at POR in Oct. We saved $25/night off rack rate, so $175 less for a 7 night stay...not a great discount, but one none the less!! Now will wait for codes that cover this trip and hopefully save even more....

I would think that you could call and ask to change to the AAA rate just like you can change to a code rate when they come out. The trouble is when you book through AAA travel agent, then I don't think that you can use "codes" later. But you don't need the travel agent to use the AAA rate, just your AAA number...Good Luck!

AAA rates for this year were released last year.
Usually you will get 15% off during value season, and 10% during regular season. I'm not sure if they give a discount off during peak season. Even though not a great discount, it still is better than no discount at all.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to Mousesavers there is a link to see what the discounts are with AAA.

I can't answer too many of your questions. We are going to WDW the first week of June. I booked last August with AAA rate. I booked 4 nights at CBR for a savings of 15% or $95.00 and 4 nights at Poly for a savings of 10% or $154.00. It basically saved me the tax, which is so high to begin with :) .

I didn't know when AAA discounts came out, I just asked for the discount when I called CRO and it was available.

I think they came out in August 2002 for all of 2003. Nothing is available for 2004 yet.

How did you book your reservation? If you booked yourself, even if it's a package, you should be able to cancel & rebook with AAA rates when they come out. If you booked through a travel agent, they may charge you a cancellation fee (not a DIsney fee).

I believe only an AAA member or an AAA travel agent can book these rates. I book room only AAA discount myself through CRO & then transferred it to Dreams Unlimited. Then if a better rate comes out, they will let me know & change it for me.

Thanks for all the info! I'll keep an eye on Mousesavers.

Yes, call and ask for the AAA discount. We have AKL Concierge reserved in Aug. It was booked at rack rates, I got a $71.88 discount per night.

This only applies for room only reservations booked thru CRO or Disney Travel.

They will ask for your membership # and exp. date.

Good Luck. I just did this on Thursday the 24th.

I called CRO the day before we left on 4/12, peak season, and got 10% off with my AAA membership. We were staying at the WL so it saved us about $30 a night. When I checked in I said something about it to the cast member and she said you can only get that discount through the reservation number and they can't give you any discounts when you check in. So give them a call, it might save you some money--even the day before you leave!

I have another questions about AAA discounts:

If you apply this discount and then an AP or other discount comes out, can you apply them both or only the higher of the two?
Thanks!

Only one discount per room, so naturally you would want to apply the higher of the two.

Just a warning, the first time I called to ask what the AAA discount was, the CM told me she couldn't book a room with the rate, that I had to book it through AAA.

Luckily I had just read on Mousesavers that some new CMs had just started, and were only trained to sell WDTC packages, so I ended the call and tried again. But I found out the code I first had was better than AAA, so didn't use AAA.

That is just not true. I always book AAA myself and wait until the AP rates come out and change. Never once has anyone said anything about booking through AAA agent.
