My DH and I are heading to Universal for 2 days this July. We thought we'd stay on site (we're looking at RPR) for one night to get the benefits of FOTL and early admission to WWOHP.

We were AAA members, but our membership expired last month. We're wondering if it would be worth it for us to rejoin AAA to get the discount for RPR.

Does anyone know what the discount typically runs for the summer months? Are there any other AAA benefits at Universal that we should be aware of?

Since this is our first time going to Universal, any other things we should know about the parks to make our visit most enjoyable?

You can check the dates and rates 2010 thread on this board to find last year's AAA rates. You don't need to have the AAA number in order to book. Just like you don't need the AP in hand in order to book. You just need to have those things when you check in.

We booked our upcoming trip through AAA. It saved us about 800.00 off the price universal gave me. Well worth it for us and my AAA membership has come in hady a few times for other goodies besides car trouble. Rental car discounts etc...

It might be worth it , it might not.I found for my trip in October that AAA costed me MORE money than booking thru Loews Hotels directly.

I found the rate and dates that I want on the AAA website, but it wants me to pay the entire trip -- not just a 1 night deposit. Unfortunately, the Loews website does not have the same rates available at this time.

Does anyone know if booking on AAA website would cause me any problems? And, has anyone had any issues in getting a full refund if you cancel within the cancellation period?

I just don't like the idea of pre-paying the entire nights... The Loews site you only have to pre-pay the one night as a deposit.

Thanks,

The Loews website does not have any AAA rates for the Universal hotels. You have to call the reservations line directly. The AAA website often lists prices that are higher than what the reservation line will offer, as well.

Yes, I called and got the reservation moved to the right dates with the AAA discount.

I do find it interesting that other sites show the discount is available but the Loews booking site does not.

The loews site shows AAA rates for their non Universal Orlando hotels but it does not show any AAA rates ever for the Universal Orlando hotels.

I originally booked our two rooms at the HRH through Loews and the AAA discount wasn't available at that time. I kept checking the AAA website and when the rates showed up there (Aug 11, 12) I just called Loews back and they gave me the rate for AAA. Since we booked through Loews site we only and to put down the one night/room deposit. Since we had put down the deposit on a rack rate for the night they will just adjust the AAA discount on the balance that is due when we go. As far as is AAA worth it, we think so since you can get entrance tickets at a discount and your AAA card also gets you a 10% discount at the restaurants (except Emerils) in the parks and City Walk - snack carts also. It also gets you a discount in the stores. Since we

I just returned and 2 rooms at RPR for 4 night with 2 Park Tickets for 4 was $1900. I am not sure how much of a discount this was. I went through AAA Travel.

We also received 4 free Coke cups with 85 cent refills, Priority setting a Sinbad and Beetle Juice show.

Discount book worth $250.00 in the park and City Walk. For example buy one get one free drinks or free cover charge.

Discount at restaurants (like Mythos) and Merchandise 10%.
