AAA discount

Okay, I'm going to apologize up front for my ignorance. But I'm just not very well schooled in discounts for Disney. The last trip I planned, we had the free dining, so I didn't give much thought to it.

Anyway, I'm in the preliminary planning stages for a return trip in September 2008. I've been reading up on discount codes, particularly AAA discounts. Let me see if I have this right. I can book a room only with Disney at a discounted AAA rate, but not a package. But I can book a discounted package with a AAA travel agent. Is this right?

I guess I was wondering what is better? Do the discounts work out to be around the same amount? And if I book a room only with Disney, do I then just also purchase tickets and the DDP separately through them?

Like I said, I'm pretty much a novice at this, so any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure if you want to get the Dining Plan, you have to purchase a package, in which case, yes, you would have to book through AAA.

Yes if you want the dining plan and the AAA room rate you must purchase your whole package through AAA. If you just want the AAA rate on your room and don't care about adding the dining plan, you can go through CRO (Disney).

What I am unclear about is whether there is any advantage to purchasing a package without dining through AAA vs getting the AAA rate on the room and buying tix separately. Is the ticket portion of an AAA package a better deal than buying the tickets through someplace like Undercover Tourist?
