I booked a 3 night club level stay at RPR last month. Due to a change in plan I phoned to cancel 2 of the days keeping just the first night. Because I wanted to cancel 2 nights it has to be a new reservation . Thing is AAA discount has been reduced and I am now going to be paying $30 more for the night. Not a great deal more but an increase none the less. So I cancelled the whole reservation and am now undecided as to what we will do. I can't really justify the difference for club level so either we will rebook standard room or just stay at the villa and not bother. Wasn't busy last year when we went and probably queued longer with fastpass than regular line. Dissapointed or what!!!

If you originally booked the 3 night super saver rate, you would have to cancel the first 3 night ressie and make a new ressie for one night only.

only other exception is if you booked a 3 night stay to include the saturday night that was not at the ss deal, you would keep the same ressie still but the saturday is at a higher rate at the present cost. all hotels increase the weekend rates for that time period. ( ie saturday, sunday, monday.)

any other discount codes would not effect your ressie.

you can add or drop nights on an original ressie and keep the same rate.

i have done that before.

It was a AAA rate and the first night was a sunday night and all 3 nights were at the same rate.

You're right! I've noticed that the discounts on most everything they offer has been kinda pathetic lately! I can almost guarantee that they just don't have the kind of pull necessary to negotiate deals that they used to.

then you need to talk to a supervisor about the issue.

i have added, dropped days before many times.
i have not encountered what you have.

take it higher up.
never cancel an existing ressie, just modify it.

When I was going to drop a day off my 3 day reservation it made the 2 days go up in price.....this was/is for Sat., Sun, Mon,. I decided to keep the 3 days because of that.....the cost difference did make it sensible to change since we are going to be down there anyway.....

the only other thing i can think of is the season rate you are in.

value season rate stops late sept or oct 3??? this year??

i have to check the uo website to know for sure.
if the season is different then the price you are staying in reflects that.

i tell you, in all the stays i have had on site at the hotels at universal,i have not encountered what you have gone thru.

like i said before, i book early on the aaa rate and then modify when rates come out.

all i can say is to make contact with uo direct/ or the hotel directly.
i have no other suggestions as i'm as puzzled as you are on this issue.

wish you luck it works out

Thanks macraven. I was that taken aback I just cancelled the whole reservation. I haven't rebooked . I know the difference is only $32 but I felt I should have been able to keep the rate for the first night the sunday night. Any suggestions as to which email address or telephone number I should try ringing.

i was told the same thing, if you eliminate a day off of an existing ressie u r subject to the current pricing structure & it entails a new ressie

evidently many discounts r tied into length of stay (as in 3 days for super saver)

fyi, there were no AAA rates available when i was looking for 2 nights a few weeks ago for week beginning 10/18; surprised u were able to snag AAA discount for just one night...i'd take it & run;) (although i may summon up my nerve & take mac's advice & call the hotels directly jik they can do better for me lol)

good luck & enjoy ur trip

Used to be that when you booked a room only reservation, you could simply leave early/check out early without penalty. That would only work though if you needed to remove days at the end of your trip, not the beginning.

Even after trying for months , we were unable to get a aaa rate on our recent visit to RP. So if you get one keep it if you can - lol!

I was just about to ask if you and Mac got your AAA discount through the AAA travel agency, or if you just told the hotel you had AAA. When I made my ressie for January through the HRH and asked about discounts, they said they had none listed yet. Do you think they are cutting discounts to build the budget for HP and the other new rides?

I always check www.aaa.com to see if they have released the AAA discounts for my dates , and then call the HRH to book those rates. But I only do this so that I can get my PLAT upgrade, otherwise I would book through Loews website and use the AAA code.

Are you sure that the AAA discounts have been released for your dates yet? How long ago did you book? I always go in Oct, but the AAA discounts are never released until Jan.

i check the universal site 1st, then the AAA website, then i call Loews jik...once i was able to get the AAA rate when it wasn't appearing on the web:cool1: . Was told it was because the availability fluctuates during the day.:confused3

i don't think they've loaded in the AAA discounts yet for '09, mid Dec year/could've been early Jan though (best as i can recall after returning from cruise lol) I was able to book AAA rate @ RPR for Oct though so i'd keep checking.

The AAA code for the Loews website doesn't work anymore. When they switched to the new system at the beginning of the year, it seems the AAA code disappeared. :sad1:

Now you have to either book at AAA or call into reservations.

I don't think they had been released yet. We're going January '09, and I was told by the HRH reservationist early July that no '09 discount info was available yet on anything, including APs. So I'll keep checking and see what happens. I don't think they ever give much of a discount on suites, but we need one for sanity.

Thanks, Janet. That's the plan. Glad I know you experienced homies or I'd NEVER have thought to check the same things several times to see about changes in discounts.
