I'm thinking of joining AAA Texas. I know it's not the best discount, but any is better than none at this point.

If there are AAA discounts available for my dates, will they be available to any AAA member (no matter what state you live in)? How do you go about booking a AAA discount? Is there a membership number that you must provide or what?

TIA:wave2:

The discount isn't great but I would rather have the money in my pocket than someone elses. I can still hope that a better discount comes out between now and September.

I made my reservations through CRO. I just told the CM my dates and asked if the AAA rate was available. She did not ask which AAA chapter I belonged to. I did have to provide my AAA membership number and will have to show my card when I check in.

I save on other things through AAA throughout the year. Discounts on these items vary by state. I also like the peace of mind when I am out and about with my kids.

I believe the AAA discounts rate applies like this: 5% for holiday season, 10% for peak season, 15% for regular season and 20% for value season. DH and I redcued our room rate at CBR in value season from $133 to $106 this coming Sept - now we are just waiting for the AP rates. All together, we saved almost 300 dollars so it was definitely worth it:)

I booked a room at POP with the AAA discount for December and it was $61 a night. I believe a 20% discount - I was very happy with that rate. I booked it through CRO. They asked for my AAA number and said I needed to present my card at check-in. It doesn't matter which state your AAA membership is from. Good luck!

I just booked the 5+2 package with AAA and the price was exactly the same as if I booked through CRO. I like the benefits - especially the parking areas, but should I have gotten a discount on the package? I know they generally discount the room portion of it, but they didn't do it for me.

Anyone else book this package through AAA??

I believe that the 5 plus 2 can not be combined with any other discounts. (AAA, AP, etc.)

We booked our 5 plus 2 through our AAA TA. You don't get any extra discount but AAA Vacations has few little extra perks (like AAA parking-diamond discount cards etc).

What is the normal AAA Discount for a moderate in October (I think it's regular season (I was told rack rate is $159-AAA rate is $151?)

Oh, thank you! I thought I missed out on something - wouldn't want that. ;)

I also thought that the AAA benefits were more my style since we rent a car while we're there and I like $25. off Planet Hollywood and the VIP lounge with the free soda. Sounds dumb when you're paying thousands of dollars, but the free soda really excites me.

I know you cannot use the AAA discount with a special such as the 5 + 2 package but can you use a AAA discount on a regular non discounted package through CRO or do you have to book through your local AAA chapter? We like calling and booking ourselves since the people at AAA always forget to add our room requests. And is the package discount different than the room only discounts? Also is this discount always the same amount {10,15,or 20%} according to the time of year you book or does it go by the hotel type {value, moderates, deluxe?} Thanks.

The AAA discounts for the Swan and Dolphin are great, just about the same as the teacher/nurse discount.

AAA is just like the old Disney club discount. We were DC members for 5 years and used the discount once, during an Easter week trip. I booked quite a few trips with the dc, as I did with the AAA this year, but then a code or 5/2 came out and I'd change it.
The good thing about the AAA is that I'm using it for other trip discounts, that I didn't get with the DC. Also, I'll use it for the trip down to wdw this year.

::MinnieMo Since I am an annual passholder and will be travellilng in September...the AAA rate is the best offer right now. I will still wait to see if AP rate becomes available and redo my reservation. Does anyone know whether the parkhhopper passes purchased through AAA are discounted and are the discounts different for each state. Others in my party do not have passes and will need them. The Disney Store in NY is closed for renovations.

I think I paid too much for a AAA discounted moderate room
- regular season - $151? Anyone know what I should be paying - I think rack is $159?

Can you book with the AAA discount without being a AAA Member yet? I'm wondering if you could see what the discount was going to be first before investing in the AAA Membership. Also, do even base AAA Members receive the discount (like the $50 a year people)?

I think it just depends on who you talk to. We have used AAA discounts on room only ressies and they did not ask me for our member number but I have read posts from those who have had to provide it at the time they booked. As for the amount of the discount I think it is always 10,15,or 20% but I'm not certain if that is figured by when your trip is or what hotel classification you are staying in.

K - I just figured it out-got about 15%=my rack rate of 159 was no tax - my rate of 151 includes tax. So rack with tax is $178. during my dates.

Call and give it a try, it really depends on the CM you get. When I booked usally AAA, they never asked for the #. others have reported that they did.

I don't know if your state offers this, but we get travelers checks through our AAA office with no fee.
