Hello

Do I need a AAA membership at the time of booking (is there a membership # CRO requests) or do I just need proof of membership at check in? I want to book with a AAA rate now for March as that is the only discount currently offerred but will switch to an AP rate if those come out later. I don't want to join AAA just for the discount if I don't end of needing it....make sense?? Thanks for any help:D

You need to be a current AAA member. CRO will ask for you # just the same way they want Disney Club #'s. It's the only way to be fair to all!:sunny:

I have AAA and when I made my reservation with CRO, they never asked for my AAA #. So I guess it would depend on what CM you get. If you book with an AP you don't have to have one till you check in.

Just houg up making my ressies for May23-31 2003 using the AAA discount the CM did ask for my number she had almost forgot by the computer won't let her close it out. Also she told me that full payment wasn't due until check in since I didn't require tickets is this new always before it was 21 days out with Disney Club.

They asked for mine also. BTW, we were already AAA menbers, but I saved enough on our January Disney trip to pay our membership fee for the year. 20% on our resort, Discount (5 or 10 %) on 5 day hopper passes bought at ourAAA ofice and I think 20% off HDDR ticket. We also had the peace of mind of roadside service for our dive down. I saved almost as much on our July vacation this year, still under the same years membership.

WOW!!! AAA members can save 20% at Disney resorts??? My wife called AAA to book room at Coronado and the rate quoted was higher than the WDW published rate (including the 11% room tax). So we just booked through our travel agent. Should we try Disney direct to obtain discount?

I made my reservations back in February for this December and used AAA for my original discount. They never asked me for my number, just said that I would need to show it at check-in. I see others did get asked. I'm surprised as you don't have to actually have an annual pass to book the discount so I wonder why you would have to have a AAA membership at the time of booking. Disney Club I understand, that's a completely different reservation system and they don't (or at least they didn't) ask for your DC card at check in. Maybe it's changed since February, Disney seems to have tightened down their reservation requirements quite a bit in the last couple of months. Anyway, just thought I'd give you my experience. If it were me, I'd just give CRO a call and ask if you need to provide the AAA number at booking or can you do it at check in.

sonicworld1,

Let me expand a little on how the AAA discount works. Every AAA member will not get 20% off all resorts at all times of the year. AAA discount rates come out for the year around July. They vary from resort to resort and season to season. From about 10-20%. For our trip this January we had made our reservations the previous May. I watched these boards here to see when the rates became open. There are only so many rooms at the AAA rate and the rate is off rack rate for that season. For the All-star movie, that brought my rate to 60.61 per night. A good rate but you can sometimes do better with a code but I didn't get anything better for that trip. We also had requested a prepared room and when the CM changed our reservation to AAA she could not get the computer to switch the prefered room rate to AAA so she just gave us the prefered room at regular room price. AAA is just like getting a good rate with any thing else. It is a game. Hope you WIN.

Thanks for the information on how the AAA discount actually works. I never used it till this last reservation and it didn't occur to me that it wasn't always available or that the discount came out at certain times of the year. I just assumed it was a standard discount that was available anytime. I guess I just got lucky and didn't know it!:D

Thanks everyone! I will give it a try. Since I'm trying for March when there aren't a lot of discounts (except maybe DC as there was last year 15% off value resorts) I may give it a try!

Where would I go to check out the AAA discounts for the year??? thanks...amy

Here's another plus of booking with AAA. You book this through CRO, not Disney Travel, so if you can change to a better discount code, it isn't such a hassle. AAA rates for all of 2003 are currently available.
