I just started Chemotherapy (hopefully short stint) and we are taking our 7 year old and our 3 year niece to WDW, wanted to know if anyone had a AAA Diamond parking pass to spare? It helps a bit with getting to the car.

I don't have a parking pass. I'd certainly send it your way if I did. I went to WDW while taking chemo and had a very nice time. I was given a GAC (Guest Assistance Card) by a wonderful CM at EPCOT. I suggest you visit the disABILITIES! Board for more information on making your vacation as smooth as possible.

When is your trip? Some one on this board was supposed to send me their AAA pass for my trip next week. The pass is only good until the end of the month. If your trip is prior to the end of the month, I will gladly mail it to you instead.

Let me know. We leave saturday 12/9. If I get it prior friday and you can use it I will mail it, just let me know.

Can you ask your doctor for a temporary handicap permit? I would certainly think you qualify for that.

I have one I was going to throw away today! I would be happy to send it to you.

She will actually have the shortest distance to walk by using the regular parking lot and the tram service. She should tell the parking lot CMs that she has difficulty walking and would need a spot close to the tram pick up point. There are no trams for the AAA lot or the handicapped parking lot and, depending on how far out in the lot they have to park, it can be a pretty long walk.

If she gets a handicapped parking permit, there are wheelchairs in the handicapped parking area that you can use to get from the handicapped parking to the place where wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented. There are sometimes no wheelchairs there though, so no guarantee that she wil be able to get one. The last 2 times we were to WDW, the handicapped parking quite full and we had to park on the far edges of it. That makes for a long walk.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is a section about GACs (Guest Assistance Cards). It may be much more helpful for her to have either a wheelchair or an ECV (electric scooter) than a GAC. People think about the waits in line, but that is only a small amount of the time involved in a trip to WDW parks. Even with a GAC, the distance walked in some of the lines is long and the GAC doesn't change that.

I am on Chemo for very progressive RA, which affects my organs. It's been a bad year, but I must look at the good side of things, I am going to Disney with my family. Since it's a temporary situation, and I did ask, but doc won't give me anything about a disability (everything is about liability with Doc's), If you PM me I can give you my address, Or I could send you a SASE so it won't cost you postage. We have time, if we live close.
