OK...I found an AAA deal that was pretty good....

June 1-6; 5 nights at the Royal Pacific for my family of 5 including 7 day passes just under $1500. This is also value season so kids 3-9 [2 of our kids qualify] will eat free lunch and dinner at some resort restaurants....and my dog can stay for $25 I think.

It's $439 less than onsite at WDW in POR which is similar in room size. Although I'll have to pay for parking, I won't have to pay to board the dog, so still ahead.

I believe I also get $50 in Universal Bucks.

Of course I'd prefer a bigger room at HR or PB but we're talking $300 + more so I'd rather spend the money on food since it's only 5 nights...

Do you think this is a pretty good deal? Thanks so much.

Trish

i pulled up the booking site based on the info you have.

for 5 nights and with the super saver rate, the total for the room which will include taxes would be: $945.45

the 7 day passes are 99.99 plus tax each x 5 = $500 +$543.20
This is based on the package site.

the above is not the AAA discounted rate.

you can get the passes cheaper at AAA than what you can in the package.

the cost for the pet is an add on to both sets of figures. $25 a one time charge for the entire stay if you do the package or $25 for the entire stay, if you don't.

i always break down the total costs each way before i can determine which is cheapest.

The $1500 you have quoted, does that include taxes?
hotel tax is 12.5 % at the hotels. (if i did tax on $1500, it would add another $187.50. more than likely only the hotel portion of your package will have 12.5% tax)

The kids eat free is based on a limited menu based on the adults ordering an entree also. If the adults order just an appetizer, no go.
The free kids meal is only for the on site hotels restaurants.

This feature of kids eat free is valid during your time period for all guests that stay on site for at least 3 nights.
It is not a package feature you are receiving, anyone with kids staying onsite can use it.

The $50 universal bucks that AAA is giving you is not included in the universal packages right now.

ask yourself, if you booked room only with AAA, what would it cost including the taxes.
the super saver rate is a very good one for your time period.

ask AAA, what they sell the passes for including tax.

then decide which is better for you and the family.

that is how i decide if a package will suit me

That may be a good deal for a family of 5 cause this year its just me an DW and we will be saying june 21-28 at RPR with tickets we will be paying $1346.00

Lawrence, have you checked the rph rates lately?
did you book the supersaver rate?
if not, you can modify your rate.
i know i saw her dates in that special sale but don't remember if your dates were in it.

$25 a night if you do the package or $25 a night if you don't.

Just a quick comment back to the OP, it has always been my understanding that the pet fee is $25 per stay not night. However, I think you'll be charged $25/night for a roll-a-way bed at the RPR for the 5th person in the room.

I checked and you are 100% correct.
It is a $25 charge for the entire stay.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll edit my above post so it won't confuse others.

We are going june 21-28 and booked suprsaver rates and total for 7 days at RPR is $1135.20 and averages out to be $140 and something a night for weekdays and then $152 something for the weekend .
Which I think is a great deal since we will be onsite the whole time this year :woohoo: and won't have to split it between 2 different places cause DW said if we couldn't do RPR for the whole trip this year she didn't want to go :scared1: so onsite Universal hotels with fotl really does spoil ya :thumbsup2

Lawrence, this will be your best anniversary celebration!

be sure to have it on your ressie what you are celebrating.

you love birds are going to have lots of fun!

Instead of having them bring us a roll away we brought a twin size air mattress and it fit perfectly between the window and the bed. It was great because it was easier to move out of the way than a roll away...and it didn't cost a thing...well you know...after we bough it...:rolleyes1

all you have to do now is call star services and request pillows, blankets and sheets for the aero bed.
they always will provide those items if you request them.

OP--also take into consideration about the kids eating free.

Will you and the kids eat EVERY meal at the hotel(s)?? I'm sure they are limited to only certain restaurants too.

I'm sure you'll eat in the parks and/or want to eat at City Walk restaurants too.

Just food for thot...sorta ;)
