AAA + DDP...can you do it?

Can someone tell me if I can book a Disney Resort using our AAA discount then separately purchase the DDP when I purchase our MYW Park hoppers?

You would not even need to do it separetely if you did not want to.

No, you can only purchase the Disney Dining Plan:
- as one component of your Magic Your Way Package (room/tickets/dining), or
- If you are staying in a DVC resort using points (see the DVC forums here for more information) you can purchase the DDP without tickets.

Yes, you can do it - you just need to purchase it all together as a package, and do it through an AAA agency. Dining can't be added to a room-only reservation, regardless if it's AAA rate or rack rate. DDP is only available as a package add-on option (or to DVC members).

And the only way to book a package with AAA rate is through an AAA agency.

I have done this twice. You can do it but you must call a AAA agent and have him or her book it for you.

Do note that if other Disney promotions are in effect (like free dining or free hoppers or something), you cannot stack or combine the discounts. So AAA cannot be combined with free dining. A good agent should check all possibilities for you. Also, I would book as early as possible because the number of rooms available at the AAA discount is limited, and once they're gone, you won't be able to get the discount at the specific resort you want.

Actually with AAA you can use both discounts getting the package discounted through AAA with free dining. It is possible. I was going to do this but the dining dates are after my trip this year. Unfortunatly I am paying for our dining during the promo for f.d. that was offered to bounce back and uk people. But I assure you if there is still availability for f.d. than you can get it with AAA discount through an AAA travel agent.

Actually we are planning to go in December so the free dining won't be available to us. We are just trying to get the DDP along with the 15% off of the rack rate on a Deluxe.

I am Canadian but our last trip in 2005 was booked thru Disney with the room discount, MYW tickets and DDP. We did not have to go thru CAA to get the room discount.

If you book your room and tickets/DDP through AAA, you will get 15% (for deluxe) off of the room portion only. The AAA discount does not apply to the ticket/dining portion of your package. You can still book all of your ADRs yourself if you don't want to do it through the AAA travel agent.

If you have an annual pass, there is no way to add on dining plan, correct? Since with an AP, I am booking a room only and not getting any major discount, it doesn't matter..or did i misudnerstand that

You understand it correctly.

Not exactly. You can turn your room only reservation into a package by adding a ticket, and then purchase the dining plan, but you have to give up any AP room discount you may have had.

I am sure you know this --you are getting a great discount(usually)with your AP room only rate. My family chose to forgo the AP rate and work with AAA Travel. We wanted a package with dining this year. Worth the extra O.P money with my family of boys to get the plan. and we can do some signature things we would not normally do while on this plan. When I ran numbers even with my DE card it was cheaper to buy the dining PLAN. Our AAA room rate for the Poly was about $2100 for 8 days which ...if AP. rates come out for August may be about the same as the AP rate. (Three years ago we stayed at the Poly for 7 days and our rate total was only $1700.) Can you believe it. I will use the one day base tickets from the package to renew my Florida Res. AP pass. I know we all wish that disney would allow AP holderS to just purchase dining as dvc people can now do. HERES HOPING SOMEDAY.
