AAA/CAA and free dining plan?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question or not. Currently, we have booked our Disney hotel with the AAA/CAA discount. We haven't bought our tickets yet. Now, Disney is offering the free dining plan if we book a package of hotel and tickets. My question is this:

Can the AAA/CAA discount be applied to this package? I'm just wondering if we should re-book our trip from Disney directly, or should we go through our AAA/CAA travel agent and still get a discount on our room.

The official word is NO, you cannot combine any sort of room discount, including AAA, with the free dining package. I had to cancel my AAA room-only reservation and rebook the package losing my discount (which wasn't much since I booked at a value). There have been 2 people on this board, however, that somehow managed to get both the AAA room discount AND the free dining program. So I guess it can be done with the right person???

You can go through either the price will be the same. My moms husband (sorry still getting used to this) is from Cananda and he let us use his CAA. We had great room only discounts and were still going to use the dinning plan. When the free dinning came out we jumped on it. We ended up loosing the CAA discount for the room but it still ended up being a good deal. You must pay rack rate for the hotel and then add the tickets. If you already have tickets you can get just one day tickets and still have a package. It is not ending up being as great a deal on the deluxe resorts so it depends on where you are staying, how many of you there are and what you were planning on eating. We have 8 people total and three rooms at POR even adding back the full price of the room we saved over 900 than if we had used the CAA discount and bought the dinning. If you want more specifics let me know where you are staying how many people ages and how many nights. Also what kind of tickets you want or if you already have them.

I know AAA travel agents can book the free dining package. I work at aaa and saw an email about it the other day. I don't remember if it said you can still get the aaa discount, though.

We originally had a room only reservation at POFQ using the AAA discount.
When I booked my free dining package I was told that my AAA discount no longer applied.
I had to pay rack rate for 8 nights. I purchased 7 days of hopper tickets. They charged me 11.5% tax on both the room and the tickets. With the free dining it's still an awesome deal.
