We are planning on doing at least 1 more trip next year summer of 2015(in june, july or early August) to make good use of our PAPs. I only have 92 pts with a home resort of BLT for 2015. I want to maximize the last trip and obviously AKL or SSR uses fewer points per night. Should I book something at 11 months and than try to switch? I know I could get more nights at AKL or SSR than I could at BLT. Or do you think I am okay waiting for the 7 month window?

Should be okay at 7 months but if you want to make sure, book at 11 and cancel at 7.

I think you'll be fine. OKW is another low point choice. If you are really flexible and lucky, a BWV standard view might even be open. You don't want to have extra points that you can't bank when you cancel the reservation - that won't do you any good.

You should have no trouble with SSR.

OKW is another low point option that usually doesnt sell out

If you are OK with SSR (a lot are not) you will be fine at 7 months

Thanks Everyone. We've enjoyed many of the resorts and good to know we should be okay waiting. Trying not to borrow any points as we always seem to be tight. I'm sure it will be time to add on soon but now is not the time financially. Too busy spending money on RunDisney!

The summer months are among the easiest to book at 7 months. No need to book BLT at 11 months unless you want to stay there in a standard view.

SSR, OKW, AKV (except concierge & value categories) will definitely be available, as will BWV (Pool & Garden view). There is a very good chance that VWL & BCV will also be available. VGF may be available, but no worries since you are looking for lower point options.

SSR and AKV savanna view and standard view will be open at 7 months out during the summer months and no need to reserve home resort at 11 months out if you want one of those, but if you are thinking AKV value rooms, you are likely to be disappointed.
