Oh, I am all about the souvenir list! Had to laugh over your comments about DH drinking out of Disney mugs and the dog bowls shaped like a Mickey head.

I think you may find some very cute baby toys while you are there. Disney always has lots of good stuff!

Soon, my DH will have another Disney mug to choose from!

I am going to have to give myself a limit on the amount of stuffed characters that I buy for Claire. If I'm not careful, I'll come home with a whole suitcase full of them!

That's what I bring back for Drew, too, because he uses them. I am always safe with coffee cups, travel mugs, and t-shirts for him. Not Disney t-shirts, though. He doesn't go that far. It has to be a Nike, Billabong, O'Neill, etc. from Team Mickey.





We haven't had such good luck finding baby stuff with First Visit on it. Most of what we have seen has been size 2T.
I guess they think nobody is crazy enough to bring babies.
They do have infant clothes. The Pooh shop is a good place for those, but I think it is going to be closed while we are there. They have a small selection of infant sizes in several places, though, but I don't know that you'll find any infant First Visit stuff. If you do, then !

My DH is like Drew...he would NEVER wear a Disney shirt!

It's so crazy that they don't have anything under size 2T that says first visit. What gives?

I will make it my mission to find some cute infant clothes for Claire!

I definitely want to get him some Mickey Ears - I hope he might understand enough to choose his own?
A first visit badge (although as I was pregnant with him when we last visited, I do have one of those already - our check in lady gave me one when I told her I was pregnant!).

When we were there in October I couldn't find anything that said baby's first visit so this time I am going to look on the DISigns thread and see what I can find. I, too, got Both my boys there first Mickey ears. My oldest actually has two sets, the black standard ones that we got on his first visit then the next year I let him design his own. My second child is still too young to design his own but he can still wear his black ones and the baby will get her own set of black Mickey ears with her name on it.

We always buy an ornament when we go as well.

Did you look on the DISigns thread? If so, did you find anything?

I can't wait to get Claire's first Mickey ears.

Earl of Sandwich is good, but if you like fish and chips you have got to try it at Cookes of Dublin - the best I've ever had, and I've lived in England!

Finding Nemo with a baby is definitely going to be tricky - it might be really hard for her to sit still that long. I doubt she'll be all that interested (not 35 minute interested anyway).

Micky ears are a definite must!! I have to share this picture from our last trip (dd was 18 months):

Switzerland - wow. It would be amazing, but it will also be very difficult to be away from your mom. I think my parents would just die if I moved that far away with their grandkids, and I don't know what I would do without their help! My husband is from England and I've flown there with small children 3 times - it's awful. Really really hard. I have a friend who moved to Istanbul for her husband's job and it was originally going to be 2 years, now it is just one but she is counting the days and can't wait to come back and have life return to normal. Things that sound like amazing adventures when you're young and carefree just end up being work once you have kids. I can definitely see some amazing things about it though - it's easy for me to say I don't want to live in a different country when I've already done it!

Baby food - I wouldn't bother. Solid food is just for fun and learning before 1 year, all they *need* is breastmilk or formula. All the parks sell bananas, and she'll be able to nibble on whatever you get yourself. I'm tempted to bring a box of cheerios and a snack trap though, just for DS's entertainment!

I like your souvenir list. Shopping at Disney is so much fun. Last time we went, I am not sure if I even bought anything for the boys. I remember seeing some things for Carter that I liked, but nothing that I liked for Landon and I didn't want to get something for one and not for the other. They might have better girl clothes, though. Most places do.

Oh my gosh! There are so many cute clothes for girls everywhere. Claire has the closet to prove it.

Claire and I have been doing some practicing for our Disney trip, which is very quickly approaching! According to my ticker, it's only one month and 5 days away!

First, we went to our local children's museum (2 blocks from our house...so nice!) and among other things, we tried on some hats. I thought this would be great practice for trying on fun Disney hats, which is a must-do on every trip!

This hat would be perfect for the Animal Kingdom safari, wouldn't it?

Next, we practiced going on rides. Claire hopped in (was put in) the laundry basket and daddy pulled her around the house. Notice she was wearing an appropriate shirt to practice for our Disney trip!

And here's Claire on Thursday morning, when it was oh-so-cold and we were leaving to drop her off at my parents' house so I could go to work. I'm pretty sure she was thinking "I'd rather be in Florida!"

It's actually a funny story, she wanted to be a Grammy (she had a Grammy, her dad's mom) and so in scrapbooks, before Nemo started talking, we wrote Grammy, called her Grammy, etc.

Well, once he was learning to talk, we have no idea why, but he started calling her Mimi, and it stuck. And you know what, she aboslutely adored it.

I'm so glad you're eating at Chef Mickey's. It's classic, the food is great, and you'll get some awesome character interaction.

I'm going to be really random in my thoughts here because I just read your whole ptr in one shot.

I wouldn't worry so much about Claire's naps / bedtime, because you may find that she'll nap really well in her stroller. If she does that, you and Mom can continue your touring without a problem. And if not, you'll figure out how to take some breaks at the hotel and adjust your touring plans to meet her needs.

I would definitely have some "baby" foods just in case you can't find something you think she'd like. Always good to have a backup. I, like you, have debated whether or not to ship food, diapers, wipes, etc to myself at the resort, or to try and pack it. In the past with Nemo, we packed it, but I see the virtue of shipping. I am also paranoid that it wouldn't arrive.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but there is one more item I wanted to mention to you that was awesome when Nemo was a baby in the parks...about nine months old the first time we took him.

I can't find it on Babies R Us right now, but when I get a picture I'll post a link. It's a toy that spins, and has different pieces within it that spin. It attaches to a suction cup which you can attach to the table top at restaurants. So if you're waiting, or needing to entertain her for a bit, let me tell you, that toy is awesome.

Also, I highly recommend a couple of new toys for the plane / parks that she's never seen before. Even if it's just a new rattle or small toy, something that will spark her interest in addition to her tried and true favorites, you know?

My parents do not know why DH is going. They just know that he's going "for work." I definitely want to wait to see if there is an offer on the table before I tell my mom about it. I don't want to worry her over nothing, if nothing is what it is.

We started the process of getting Claire's passport this weekend. Her passport picture is hilarious. She is screaming! She was scared of the Walgreens lady!

I think we have that toy... I'll take a pic of it when I get a minute so I can ask you if that's the one. And then I will keep it out of Claire's reach until the trip so it's new to her!

I'm going to have to look for some new toys over the next few weeks. Thanks for that suggestion. I am quite curious as to how Claire will be on the airplane because that girl does not sit still for 2 minutes, let alone 2 hours!

Do you ever use those baby foods that come in the little pouches and the top screws off and the baby can squeeze it into their mouth? We give those to Claire when we dine out and she loves them. And they're very easy and convenient for me. So I think we'll pack some of those.

I really do hope Claire will nap in her stroller for at least a little bit each day. I do plan to go back to the hotel every day, but it will be great if Claire can get a catnap in the stroller also.

I've been thinking a bit about strollers lately. Trying to decide which one will accompany us on our ski trip and which one we will take with us to Disney World.

I'm not so worried about the stroller we take on the ski trip because it won't be used all that much.

The stroller that we take to Disney, however, will be heavily used.

Sooo...here are our choices:

The umbrella-ish stroller

Or the stroller that's part of our "travel system"

The umbrella-ish stroller is pretty lightweight, folds up very small, reclines if needed for a nap, and is just a great stroller. The "basket at the bottom is actually a little backpack that you can detach and bring with you when you ditch the stroller.

The bigger stroller is a little bit heavier, folds up not so small, and also reclines for a nap. It also has a cup holder and a junk holder on the handle, has a big basket on the bottom for more junk, and has a little tray that can hold snacks and a sippy cup for Claire.

For me, the umbrella-ish stroller would be much easier and more convenient. However, I think the bigger stroller would fit Claire's needs/wants quite a bit better. So, I think we'll be taking the big one with us on our trip, even though the other one would be so much easier!

When you get on a bus at Disney World, what do you do with the stroller? Fold it up and take it to your seat with you? Fold it up and leave it by the door? I guess I've never paid attention.

I'm also starting to get magical Express anxiety! Even thought I have used Magical Express before, I can not picture where you go to get on ME at the airport. Can someone "walk" me through that so I can put my mind at ease? I worry about the craziest things sometimes!

I heard from DH this morning. He made it to Switzerland safely and explored Geneva today. Tomorrow, he will have his interview and a lot of our questions will be answered. I can't wait for tomorrow!

I highly recommend going with the umbrella type stroller. The smaller it folds up the easier it is on a crowded bus. That is the only kind I have ever brought for the girls and it has worked perfectly. Getting on the bus you must fold your stroller and carry it with you. With a larger stroller you will be trying to balance it with all the people on the bus and while juggling Claire. With an umbrella stroller you can usually stick it under the seat or put it between you and the bus wall without too much trouble.

As for Magical Express it is on bottom floor of side B. When you are in the main lobby just look up - there is a giant green B on the wall. just go down to the ground floor and when you get off the elevator turn left and walk to the end of the terminal.

DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY go for the umbrella stroller. We used a Maclaren until Aisling was 5 at WDW. You do NOT want to travel with a bigger stroller. I know it's nice to have a little more basket room and the tray but if you are taking WDW transportation, I can't tell you how fast you sometimes need to fold up that thing and get on the bus. And especially after fireworks when the bus is standing room only- 1) if you are standing you don't want to be holding a bigger stroller and 2) if you are sitting, you don't want the dirty looks from other guests if your stroller is taking up valuable standing room

I'd never heard of the pouch baby food, that's pretty cool! It amazes me how much has changed even since my oldest was a baby...what will they think of next, right?

I'm the opposite opinion of the other posters, not to be a rabble rouser, but we have always taken the stroller that was part of our travel system. Now, I can't compare it to the umbrella type stroller, because I have no experience with that.

Is it bulkier on the bus? Yes. But is it worth it's weight in gold as far as your kiddo being comfortable? Oh, yes. I remember when Nemo was little, how comfortable that was for him to nap in, how much I could fit in the bottom basket, just how much easier it was to have that stroller we were used to.

Again, that is totally my personal opinion.

On the other side of the fence, I am now debating what to do for my upcoming trip. I have a stroller that's part of Squirt's travel system, and although Nemo will be six, and most likely will be running, never mind walking, all over the place, I'm worried about not having somewhere for him to just rest his legs or konk off for a bit. I am due May 17th but with my last two I haven't made it past 36 weeks. I am thinking I will be having another April baby and we are having a girl, my other two are boys.

As for the stroller I think you might want to go with the umbrella stroller. It will be easier to bring through the airport as well as on the Disney buses. Manuevering the other stroller on the buses might bel a nightmare. I know when we went the first time with DS1 it was so much easier with our umbrella type stroller ( we had a combo stroller).

They will be enlightened very quickly. Unless they want to be the ones carrying the two year old, a stroller is a must. I had one for Drew when he was a pretty good size. Even if he didn't ride in it all the time, it was there when he needed it and whenever we just needed storage space.


Julie, I'll vote for the umbrella stroller, too. The trade-off of not having the few extra perks, like cup holders, is not worth the aggravation on the buses. With the umbrella, it's kick up, smoosh down, and be on your way with something that can be held in one hand.

We'll be thinking of you and Gordon today. Jill and I were talking about the situation last night. My heart truly goes out to you as you make these future decisions

A rabble rouser!

I do think I will miss the big basket and the cup/junk holders on the bigger stroller. I'm thinking of checking at one of the baby stores for attachments for the umbrella stroller that will make it hold more junk. If I can find something like that, I will feel better about it. I always want to be prepared and that means bringing WAY TOO MUCH stuff with me everywhere I go!

Nemo will be SIX?!?! How is that possible? You do have a tough decision ahead of you with the stroller for him. I am sure there will be times he will need/want to rest his legs. And there will be times you will just want him to be in one spot for a few minutes, I'm sure!

I am due May 17th but with my last two I haven't made it past 36 weeks. I am thinking I will be having another April baby and we are having a girl, my other two are boys.

As for the stroller I think you might want to go with the umbrella stroller. It will be easier to bring through the airport as well as on the Disney buses. Manuevering the other stroller on the buses might bel a nightmare. I know when we went the first time with DS1 it was so much easier with our umbrella type stroller ( we had a combo stroller).

Yay for a girl! I know I have no other experience, but I love having a girl. It's so much fun!

Thanks for the stroller input. The more I think about just how big that big stroller is when it's folded up, the more I think that I would regret bringing it with us.

Toby will be 2yrs+ in August so we're planning on taking his umbrella stroller. My family are trying to tell me he won't need it. Er, hello? He's 2!!!!!

Haha! I can't even imagine not having a stroller for a 2 year old!

They will be enlightened very quickly. Unless they want to be the ones carrying the two year old, a stroller is a must. I had one for Drew when he was a pretty good size. Even if he didn't ride in it all the time, it was there when he needed it and whenever we just needed storage space.


Julie, I'll vote for the umbrella stroller, too. The trade-off of not having the few extra perks, like cup holders, is not worth the aggravation on the buses. With the umbrella, it's kick up, smoosh down, and be on your way with something that can be held in one hand.

I completely agree, MeMom! Can you imagine carrying a 2 year old all through the parks?!

I'm going to see what I can do about perking my umbrella stroller up. I've seen a couple things on Amazon and I'll see what I can find at Babies R Us.

Thanks for thinking of us. That means a lot to me. This is a pretty hard time right now because I haven't told my mom yet. And I tell her everything. So it's very hard to keep this inside. Please keep praying that we come to the right decision.
