A weird question about invites...

I know Disney will send the Save the Dates around 8 months, so do I send them after that? I was all prepared to, but now I don't know, my friend said that didn't sound right, because they'd already have all the information about the wedding, so you should invite them either before or around the same time. I had it all figured out, but hearing all the things she thinks about it has confused me.

From all the reading I've done (and looking back at my notes) Traditional STDs are sent out 6-12 months for a Destination Wedding (around 8 months for Disney). The STDs are sent so it will allow guests to plan ahead of time to 'save the date' for you and make vacation preparations ahead of time.

Invites are then sent out 3-6 months before the wedding which will then include all details about the ceremony & reception. Ideally you would also send your RSVP cards w/ invites to get a more acurate head count.

Exactly! That was what I kept saying, but my friend kept insisting that that was "weird." I 'm not so sure I'll be asking her for anymore advice

Save the dates go out usually between 8-10 months in advance so people can start to plan their trips. Then the invites go out at 8-12 weeks: 8 weeks if the wedding is nearby to you (i.e. if you're a Florida resident), 12 weeks if it's a destination wedding. Save the dates are just sort of a warning that people might need to take time off and plan a trip somewhere, that's all. It's sort of a "Heads up! You gotta go to Disney World!"
