We check in at the Fort next Tuesday. My goodness I started dreaming of this trip when we bought our RV in 2014. Had to cancel last year due to DD getting married the Sept prior ( serious depletion of funds).
We were scheduled to leave home in Eastern Oregon Jan 9th but the brutal winter had other ideas. After a few days of nail biting in the fetal position praying for a break in ice and snow , we left Jan 15. Still had a few moments of eye covering and held breath getting out of our home area. Had to chain up the truck and trailer to get out of our neighborhood . Luckily my husband is a very seasoned and experienced hauler.
We got held up in Southern Oregon with an airbag issue on the truck. But once we crossed the California border ( and that's when the ice and snow finally came off our rig) we made great time and arrived in Orlando in 6 days. Once we hit LA we were just a day ahead of the tornados , so had great motivation to keep on a moving!
We've been at KOA Orlando/Kissimmee for almost a month. Love it! Easy drive to parks, Coasts, and anything we've needed. Very well kept and lovely park. I highly recommend it!
We went to the Fort to explore and wrap my head around the fact my dream is actually happening. We stopped by check in and spoke with a sweet guy at Concierge named Chaad. What a terrific young man and example of how CM can completely affect your experience at Disney. He was so accommodating and spent time helping us aquaint ourselves with the Fort layout and the "how to's and what for's". He helped us select 3-4 choices of sites we were leaning to that met our needs. We know it's only a "if possible but no promises". But he was happy to spend the time with us and exchange his own experiences here in Orlando and at Disney.
If any of you happen to speak with him ask for his autograph I did , and had him sign my FW map,and it made him laugh!
Well be in the 500 loop in a 5'er with a Castle Mickey in the door window and Mickey planter lights along the patio. I'll be the one with a silly grin on my face!
