What is it about driving through the Wilderness Lodge gates and hearing the Guard say " Welcome Home" that give me a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye?? Ahhhh!!! I was truly HOME AGAIN!!!!
My DH and DSS have never stayed at the Lodge. DD and I are ol experts as this was our 5th stay. I arrive at the desk and asked to upgrade my Woods view to a Main Pool view with Bunkbeds. Got room #2113 which, I must say, I thought I would be disappointed with being on the ground floor, but was REALLY surprised. The Creek came out of the lobby right in front of our room. The bridge across to RF and the pool was about 4 doors down and we were steps away from the busses. Really!! A great location!! AND!!!! Asked for Flag Family and GOT IT!!!! WOO HOO!! First time!! Was booked for Monday Morning, checkout day! What a great way to end the trip. I was so excited I started to cry and DH truly thought I had lost my mind!
We headed first to TTC to exchange my DD's passholder renewal for her ticket. Just then the skies opened with the loudest lightning storm I ever heard!!! Sheesh!! Then it rained!!! Buckets!!! But by the time we got off the monorail, it was just a drizzle and we headed on.
First Stop, Pirates...It was dry inside and EVERYONE else had the same idea...but, it wasn't too bad. By the time we got done, the sun was peaking out and we headed to Splash Mountain, but it had been struck by lightning and wasn't working right. So we went over to Thundermountain. DD favorite ride. Afterwards we went over to the shooting gallery for a hot pretzel and some relax time. Haunted Mansion was next. DSS (11) was scared as he couldn't remember the last time he was on..so he was unsure. He loved it and we headed on the train to MTT where we rode Barnstormer. After we headed back to the WL to get our 6:50 PS for WCC.
Whisper Caynon Cafe is really my favorite "casual" place to eat. I ordered the BBQ and Rick had the meatloaf. We BOTH had the Cheatu St Michelle Johannsberg Reisling...This is one of our favorite wines and it was nice at the end of a hectic day of traveling and such.
The rain began again as did the lightning so we sat on the porch of our room and enjoyed mother natures light show ( as there was no Wishes because of Grad night )
We settled in for the night and because the silly weathermen predicted rain for Saturday, decided that we would postpone our Typhoon Lagoon Day till Sunday and spend Saturday in MGM/Epcot.
Coming up: DAY 2 - We are turning Japanese - O
