A Very Moving Story about Turtle Talk with Crush

I LOVE stories like this.

Thanks to everyone for sharing!

What a great story. Totally agree about Disney being a magically place. With every trip, ds opens up a little more and has a few more words :thumbsup2

People have posted so many neat little stories here. It really makes you feel good.:goodvibes

PS - More people than I can remember have either posted on this board or PM'd me that their child with some condition that affected their ability to speak greatly surprized their parents when they talked to one of the characters.

Oh, I completely believe that story.

My DS (3) is autistic. He didn't speak a word (hardly even babbled) until he was close to 2. He started speech therapy EARLY (at 19 months) and he went from 0 words at 19 months to several HUNDRED words in a span of about 3 months.

With some autistic children, at least, the words are IN their head, they just don't talk for whatever reason, but when they DO finally talk, it's amazing how much they have to say. My son now, a couple weeks shy of turning three, seems to have a very advanced vocabulary for his age and speaks in full, long, comprehendable sentences, as though he spent the entire first 2 years of his life just listening to what everyone else was saying. He didn't talk until he had it "right" in his head. It's very interesting, but I do believe that a child could start talking out of nowhere when motivated by something enough.

We will be going to Disney in Oct. for the first time. My 6 year old autistic son has not spoke a word in over 3 years. He has loved Buzz Lightyear for as long as I can remember. I can't wait for them to meet! I will have the camcorder ready just in case...not expecting anything to happen but you never know.

Your post to God's monitor!

:crazy2: Ouch, sorry to be ogre of the board- LOL! I loved all these stories and I do believe in miracles (I DO)!

I just piped in my original statement because rumors spread quickly and false hope can hurt. I just meant maybe there was more to the story than mentioned and to point out there are sometimes misunderstandings. In no way do I wish to disprove the story, I hope with all my heart it is the truth...

I have one hfa ds7 and a dd9 with tourettes that's also on the spectrum (hfa). These children are not even biologically related so I still have those how the hell:confused:, twice:eek:, :confused3 days! SO I will plead insanity on my ogredom.

Thank you for sharing these pieces of Disney Magic with us.

No problem, and even though I jumped on that originally, it is all-too-typical that such a story would be invented or exaggerated. I hate that, but I guess it is human nature to wish such a story happened, so even if it didn't, someone makes it up.
My daughter talking with Crush was, in a 10 day trip, one of the 3 best highlights of the whole thing. The "ride" is simple but mark my words - similar "rides" will eventually be the signature of going to a Disney park.

I believe it also because it happened to us on a smaller level...our youngest was essentially non-verbal prior to our 12/05 trip and when we were at the pin cart in the Wilderness Lodge she saw a Pluto pin that looked like her stuffed animal Pluto...she pointed to the pin and said "My puppy"...needless to say dh bought her the pin and everything else Pluto we saw that trip.

When we got home she went back to school...she had not said one word in school during her first three months there and the first day back her teacher asked how the trip was and Becca said "I see Belle"...

So I know that it does happen and I do credit WDW with helping Becca to find her voice...thanks so much for sharing this story:)
