Warning: A vent is ahead.

I have seen several threads for trading the new firewalls and the animators' desk and chair. I understand that if you go to the park, then you want a little something in exchange. I do not understand why some people are looking for rares, etc. for these items. You did not have to buy something for them, you did not have to answer the quests and get a stamp, and the items are not rare. I just dont understand why people ask for these items and why people trade the rare items for them. Does anyone else think that this is taking advantage of people who are not as fortunate to be able to get to the parks? :confused3 I want to be clear. I am just talking about the items that you pick up, not the quests that you have to fill out or the cards the require a purchase.

Also, why do people not answer others in their trade threads? I understand that a person cannot check their thread every second of every day, but I expect them to respond to the people who have offered when they do check it. I get tired of offering for items, just to have the owner of the thread come and "bump" their thread without even responding or saying "anyone else" instead of responding to my offer. Is that too much ask?

Sorry. I just had to get this out. I feel as though many on this trade forum are being greedy and rude to others. Sorry is anyone doesnt agree.

nicely said. yes it is a bit silly about asking for rare trades, but maybe not because i'm pretty sure that you can only get one card per person, so they should get something for it.

What new firewalls are you talking about? The items received from quests are hard to get and can only be obtained by being lucky enough to go to Disneyland or WDW. Im not justifying trades like pink heartless hamper for christmas tree but you should get rare for rare. :goodvibes

but you must be able to get more than one card as they wont scan your passes if they are just handing them out like they did the monsters inc gold doors so you must be able to keep going back for more as the staff will see many people in one day and staff will also change so they will not know who has had cards. i am also one who agrees with princess as i am from the uk and since i started playing vmk have not been to disney but everyone only wants to trade for rare items so you cant get any to even start with. but i am glad they have released the quest machine because it is the one thing that has got me a few of the items i want. and i know this is off topic but if the vmk staff do not want us to use the quest machine to trade credits why dont they make it so you are able in a trade window to trade the credits.people keep saying to me not to trade credits as i may get banned but this is the only way available for me to get those items i want.

she is also only on about those items handed out like the animator desk and gold doors etc. not the items people have to complete the quests for or purchase items for.

Nicely put :) I have to agree with you.

I agree, I live by the park and I am lucky enugh to get to go often, but when I was there last week and I and my party got 1 each of the new Wells and I was quite excited to get them and this guy walked up and took like 30 of them from the while the castmember was helping us! and they are the quest so you know that at the end of the day or the end of the week some poor kid wont be able to get one. Its just greedy to do that and beacause so many people have them there not worth anything. at least with the animators desk you have to ask and they to ask and they give you one, I think they should only give it to you if you actualy go in to the show, its a fun show. as for trades I ask for things that I cant buy in the game since you cant buy the desks in the game and alot of people want them so supply and demand factors in, but for the most part some people wanting Top hats and fire walls for one of the Pirate wells they just jacked 30 of thats awful.

Same thing I'm thinking

Said it before and will say it again.....A trade is between two people and what ever they agree upon is what is fair.

Example: I can play and win the Ship game easily and like to play it but someone else might not be able to but can get to the parks easily and thus have access to quest items that they may want to trade for a full ship.

So they may have a ton of say firewalls and offer me one for say 2 full ships.

While you do not think that is fair being that the firewalls are rarer than the ships this person may think it is more than fair because they have alot of firewalls and no way to get a ship, because they either can not play the game or are not good at it or just can not be bothered to play it. What ever the reason if the two parties involved think it is fair that is all that matters.

I am not saying I made this trade or would because I would probably just end up gifting them a ship or asking for something a lot less rare...it is an example of how everyone opinions about what is a fair trade and what is not differs. That is probably one reason VMK will not get involved with trades unless there was an out and out scam.

I for one have never been to Disneyland or WDW. Therefore, it is very difficult for me to get the park and quest items. I have been gifted a couple Animator's Desk sets and four or five pirate wells from someone who goes to Disneyland regularly. They still have plenty of extras for themselves. This shows that yes, people do grab 30 cards for the wells and Animator's Desks, but they hand them out to people that can't get them as easily as they can.

Unfortunately, some people can't be generous enough to give free virtual items on a free virtual game. What's it worth to you if you have a hundred of them and can just go back and get a hundred more tomorrow, while others don't even have just one?

But, wouldn't it be nice with a world full of gifting or free vmk cards without going to the parks? Lol

I agree 100% people should be free to decide on what they want or what they offer for certain items.

I see Mal's point, but I feel that her example has a lot of ifs. Most people do not get to the park often and I feel that many people are taking advantage of that. Right or wrong, that is my observation. This is supposed to be a fun game for kids and it just doesnt seem to be for me. It is hard for me to get items since I have only been playing since May. I dont know. I guess I just think that some people ask for too much for what they have to offer. But I guess if people are willing to trade those high prices, then people will continue to ask for them.

Also I meant new wells, not firewalls. LOL.

I too think there is far too much greed on the game, however it is a game. Not everyone will be able to have every item available. That's what the in-park quests are all about. Exclusive items for those lucky enough to have access to the parks. On another note, most of the people with a ton of park items are kids. The adults I know have been more than generous with gifting to people like myself, who live thousands of miles away from DL and WDW.
As a matter of fact, all of the park items I have were gifted to me from friends I've made on the game.

Well wells, animator desks are in park some people live far away and can't get to there and for some familys it cost 4000 dollers to get to the park from far away so the cards are not really free and you have to earn them and what would be rare but in game stuff?

Ok, I am going to jump in here and probably make a few people mad.

First, yes I am very lucky to live close (60 miles) to Disneyland and I go as much as I can. Yes, I play the quest and I pick up the "free" cards. It also costs me some $13.00 in gas for each trip plus I need a pass to get into the parks. So it's not like I am getting the cards for free. I have driven to DL just to pick up cards.

What do I do with these cards? Lots I gift to people here on Dis. Some I trade. Good example is: I was looking for blue crates and dead man's chests so I offered animator's desks and other quest items. I still have some gold doors so if VMK every gets the number generators fixed I can open Win Mouse Gold again. Through the game I have give out some 130 doors. Almost all of these went to people that can not get to the parks. How did I get so many cards? By going to DL myself, having friends pick up cards, and by the CM's knowing I was running a game on VMK. They thought it was great that I was spending my free time for other to have a chance to get the doors.

I also do radom gifting on VMK and on occassion have helped out the Dis Prize Vault.

If this makes me a bad person for sometimes wanting something rare in trade then so be it. Think most of Dis will tell you I try and trade fairly as do most Dis members.

Remember you do not have to trade with anyone.

Maybe I was not clear in my original post. I am not saying that the people who far away are greedy. I am also not accusing everyone is greedy. I know that there are many generous people on the Dis. I do not think it is wrong to ask for a lot for your only pair, but I have noticed people who have 4 or more pairs asking for rare. I just think that that is a little ridiculous. When I posted my rant, I was frustrated. I know that not everyone is greedy and I know that some are justified in what they ask for. I just think that some people want too much for the in park quest items.
