A Vacation From My Problems (A Sept. 2010 Trip Report) - COMPLETED 12/14

That's right there was something about animals.... umm.... Busch Gardens, right????

Eh, close enough.

Hey! I talked about the chapter!

:lmao:

Yes, you did--without me begging, too!

+1 bonus point :thumbsup2

nice update mark.:thumbsup2 are we talkin hot? or, are we talkin peanut butter hot?

Thanks Dave! Definitely peanut butter hot!

AWwww RATS! WTG middlepat!

I thought HOT. %#$^ HOT. was when dark helmet took a sip of his coffee from MR. Coffee. Maybe he said HOT. TOO HOT? I couldn't find the clip anywhere.. I guess I could pop in the movie. :lmao::lmao:

There is a TR here? :confused3

It's in there, although you have to look pretty hard. I've created a monster! :lmao:

Since everybody already beat me to all th e quotes that I saw (and I was gonna try to get that "High Noon" too :thumbsup2) I will talk about your update.

I believe you are right about the animatronic male lion and the Dafari. I have gone so far as to tell my husband that they have just thrown a stuffed animal up there.

I see nothing wrong with your parenting. I have taken many a crying child on rides. Well, actually, I have taken one crying child on many rides...but he's 19 now and still loves me so I don't think I did too much damage;). He was afraid of anything "dark & scary".....you know like Pooh & Its a small World :sad2:. When he was little (and portable;)) he went on everything. When he was a little bit bigger, a little more stubborn, and had a baby brother he managed to skip out of rides. Then he got a little older, and became bribable :thumbsup2 Even as recently as 4 or 5 years ago there were some rides that he would voice a complaint about (Haunted Mansion.....) so we would get creative. We would try to count the animals that we would find in there. (he has some delays and although he is 19 he acts a few years younger than his actual age) Now the only thing he hesitates at is Tower of Terror.....but once he's on it he is fine (peek at the first page of my TR and see pics of him hamming it up for the camera)

I don't remember the dates of your trip. But for my trip coming up (in just 24 days :banana:) AK doesn't open until 9. So you may have slept in....and still made rope drop!

I appreciate your support! I think we were of the school of thought that says we don't want the kids to be paralyzed by fear of the unknown. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to toughen them up a little, either.

Then again, I still hesitate at the Tower of Terror. :scared1:

Still one movie quote out there... :rolleyes1

Great update! I totally agree with your opinion on the Safari, still a great ride, and on the beauty of AK! :goodvibes

And on the quotes: Isn't "Why did it have to be snakes?" also from "Snakes on a Plane"?

Oh man, you post an update on the busiest day of my busiest week?

Well, it was a nice chapter. I've never been able to get a good picture of the lion either, although I haven't gotten to the part in my current TR where we do the safari....so, will my bad luck hold?

I always have a bad feeling on Kali. I have the gusher of water always land on top of me. I have gotten three new shirts and two new shorts from Kali. Last trip I had to go back to the room to change. It was cool and I had to get warmer clothes and redo my hair. I actually had a leaf in my hair from the water.

Just now joining and am loving your TR and can't wait for more!

I too LOVE POR...so sad we can't stay there anymore since we were crazy and decided to have one more child...who has four kids?!?..crazies I tell ya...

One year, he even wanted a Space Puppies-themed birthday party. Try finding that at your local Target.
duh, you have to go to Wal-mart for Space Puppy paraphernalia

We had wanted to do the safari early in the day to try and catch animals who were awake, and for the most part, they didn't disappoint. I turned around to point some animals out to Scotty, who was extremely excited to see them. And by "extremely excited to see them," I mean slouched down on the bench looking as though he was ready for a nap. I think he actually started to lie down at one point, all the time insisting that he was enjoying the ride and wanted to see more animals. How much was his ticket again? :sad2:
Evan actually fell asleep on that ride once. Yup, the silky smooth pathway lulled him right to sleep. :confused3

We brought a disposable water-proof camera with us, but haven't gotten the film developed yet.
Is that because no place actually develops this "film" that you talk about?

Once we do, I'll try and post the picture of me getting drenched at the top of the ramp so you can mock me.
Oh, we don't need those pictures to mock you.

We let the boys take turns pressing the button on the bridge to soak other riders after we got off.
Did they let out an evil cackle every time they did it? Not that I do or anything...

Nice work middlepat! Stole that one right out from under Tim's nose. Too bad he already has a nemesis.
That's OK, as his nemesis, I hereby deputize you. Feel free to do any dastardly thing to Tim that you feel like.:thumbsup2

Nice AK update. I'm with Scotty...love the Safari ride. I'm assuming this is the male lion you are talking about:

I don' think I've ever seen him awake either.

I think I may have a picture from May of when the lion audio-animatronic was actually working.

:lmao:

It's not in my photobucket, so it must still be on my home computer. I'll have to check that out.

I know! Let's all write letters to Disney to ask them to fix the lion.

 :rotfl2:

Well I will never have a chance with your movie quotes game :rotfl: but I am enjoying the TR! The male lion is always sleeping when we go too! And we got stuck on the right side of our safari with another couple on the left of us, and really all the action is on the left booo!

And on the quotes: Isn't "Why did it have to be snakes?" also from "Snakes on a Plane"?

Not sure. I never saw Snakes on a Plane. I have heard a few other quotes from that movie, though--I don't think I'm allowed to post them here.

Oh man, you post an update on the busiest day of my busiest week?

Well, it was a nice chapter. I've never been able to get a good picture of the lion either, although I haven't gotten to the part in my current TR where we do the safari....so, will my bad luck hold?

Sorry about the timing. But keep in mind, there will be a quality bonus point opportunity coming up later in the TR.

And nice job slipping in a promo for your TR! That is a professional Trip Reporter move, right there. :thumbsup2

I will say to everyone else--check out glennbo123's ongoing TR! I'm only through about 1/3 of it so far, but it's highly enjoyable, has lots of fun comments from the readers, and nifty Star Wars-themed chapter headings!

:welcome:

Sorry you aren't a fan of Kali. I think the best approach is to just accept that you'll be soaked and plan accordingly. It's not received as well when it's a surprise.

Just now joining and am loving your TR and can't wait for more!

I too LOVE POR...so sad we can't stay there anymore since we were crazy and decided to have one more child...who has four kids?!?..crazies I tell ya...

:welcome:

Thanks for joining in! And God bless you with 4 kids. Now that we're tasting freedom from diapers and are finally able to travel a little more...it would be hard to give that up! I do wish Disney had more options available for larger families in the budget range, although they are working on that with the new Animation Resort, I believe.

Shawshank Redemption ??

+1 :thumbsup2

Yes! Nice work on that one. Also one of my all-time favorite movies.

duh, you have to go to Wal-mart for Space Puppy paraphernalia

*facepalm*

Evan actually fell asleep on that ride once. Yup, the silky smooth pathway lulled him right to sleep. :confused3

That must be it. The soothing motions of the safari jeep...

Is that because no place actually develops this "film" that you talk about?

Imagine my surprise when I couldn't find a place to plug the camera into my computer!

Oh, we don't need those pictures to mock you.

Sadly, this is true. Equally sadly, I don't have a comeback. :sad2:

Did they let out an evil cackle every time they did it? Not that I do or anything...

:rolleyes1

mumble mumble - Sylvester Stalone

Any movie with SS in it.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Nice! But how do you know it's not Steven Seagal?

Cool, I've been deputized.

It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Ooooh, there are some excellent quotes in that movie.

Nice AK update. I'm with Scotty...love the Safari ride. I'm assuming this is the male lion you are talking about:

That's the one! We saw his...um...less attractive side.

I know! Let's all write letters to Disney to ask them to fix the lion.

 :rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao: I like it!

:eek::eek::eek:

I feel like this picture should have been accompanied by the Hallelujah Chorus.

+1 bonus point for such a rare accomplishment. :thumbsup2

I'm telling you there's a chance. Oh wait, I already used that one. Sorry.

I am soo busted on the promo....gotta work on being a little more subtle, obviously. But thanks for the endorsement!

One of my favorite pictures of the lion appeared in this TR installment from Blueyedgirl from a trip she took this past spring.

No better way to kill time at work than reading a good TR. ;) I'll head over and check it out.
