I have been watching that thread and have not seen my specific issue. So instead of derailing the thread I am starting a new similiar one. I am looking to get a rental car in the San Diego convention center area and hope to drop it in or near DLR.

Here are my questions:

Is there a place to drop off a rental car in the Disneyland resort?

Does anyone know of a good place in the convention center area to pick up a car?

I see that the Marriott has a car rental place. So I am thinking using them as I can drop off at the Marriott on Convention Way in Anaheim. Has anyone else done this?

And finally, is there perk to using Alamo, the "official rental car of Disneyland?"

Thanks for any information. :earsgirl:

Are you flying into San Diego? How do you plan to get the Convention Center, which isn't that far from the airport by the way? We rented from Alamo when we were in San Diego and I think you just make arrangements for a different drop off location. Also have you thought about Enterprise because I know that they actually will meet you at the hotel if need be. Hope you have a great trip.

Flying into San Diego and out of Santa Ana. We are staying at a hotel near the convention center that has a free airport shuttle. I think that I could easily get back to the airport to pick up a car and the way out of town, just did not want the hassle. I do not anticipate needing a car at either location, just a way to get from San Diego to Anaheim.

I thought about Amtrack. There is a station near the hotel in San Diego and I think there is an Anaheim station, but my husband was not in favor of that. In our area of the country Amtrack typically runs 5-8 hours behind schedule and he did not want to deal with that.

Thanks for the information about Alamo.

If you are staying in a hotel that offers free shuttle, ask for them to take you to the rental car place of your choice because all rental car offices are off site of the airport. They are all almost in the same neighborhood. Maybe you can arrange for a taxi if the shuttle bus won't take you to pick up your car or you can take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and from the airport go on the rental car shuttle to their place of business. Personally because this all sounds confusing I would just go from the airport when I land and take the rental car shuttle to the rental car place and pick up the car and drive to the hotel. It's a very easy drive to the convention center area from the car rental places.

I have taken the Amtrak from San Diego to Anaheim and LA a few times. The train has never been more than 5 minutes late. You can take the Coaster if you travel during commuter hours. The train ride is beautiful most of the way as you travel next to the ocean. The train station in San Diego is downtown and near the Convention Center. Once you arrive in Anaheim, you can take a cab to your hotel.
