Well, I am new here as you can tell by my number of posts, but, we are planning our May trip to WDW and I thought, why not join in the fun and start a pre-trip report. I may not be as funny as most of the ones I have read on here, but I will be diligent in trying to keep you entertained!

First of all this trip is long awaited and LONG overdue! You see, we live in Florida, and are Season Pass holders for many years now, but, the last time we went was February of 2008 and that was a short 4 day trip. We have had some truly rough times over the last year, but this trip is sure to do the trick in making the next year one we will never forget!

You see, in August of 2008, my DH (36) had a heart attack and was placed in the hospital. They were concerned due to his age, but not completely confused due to his career. My DH has been in law enforcement since he was 19 years old, wherein he joined his local police department in a subarb of Jacksonville, FL. From there, he entered the military, staying true to his dreams of being a law enforcement officer, he was a Military Policeman. After his four year stint he joined the Sheriff's Office here in Panama City (where we met), where he stayed for 6 years. On a whim, he decided he would like to be in a bigger city, wherein, we decided to move to Clearwater, FL, where he worked for another 5 years as a detective for the Sheriff's Office there. On another whim(my DH is somewhat of a gypsie by nature) he decided he wanted a MUCH smaller environment, so we moved to NORTH DAKOTA! We only made it there for 6 months (he worked as the assistant Sheriff), and we moved back to where we are now in Panama City. Then, he had the heart attack. Well, just as we thought things were getting better, he had another heart attack, and what they believe was a small stroke, and things just went downhill from there. You see, I was a stay at home mom, as his career was our "bacon". But, unfortunately, after all of those years in law enforcement, he was forced to medically retire. Now, you may think that sounds ideal, but the local sheriff's office hasn't cooperated, and he hasn't received a dime in retirement money. Therefore, months passed with no income from DH. I graciously decided I would return to work as a paralegal(making much less than he was making of course), and in December, he lucked upon the opportunity of a lifetime, night manager of a local auto parts store. Now, that may not sound like much, but after dealing with those many years of the stressful lifestyle of a law enforcement officer, it was truly a blessing from God. So, needless to say, life is back on track for us, and with that good blessing we decided to take a "real" trip to the World.

Enough with the boring history lesson though, on to the good stuff. So, without further adieu here is the cast of characters.

Me - Mande - 33 ULTIMATE Disney fanatic, trip planner, money saver and researcher extraordinaire! I am still working as a legal assistant for a one man law office locally. I enjoy anything to do with Disney, reading, scrapbooking and spending time with my most amazing family.

DH - Bill - 36 Loves Disney as much as I do, but doesn't enjoy talking about it incessantly. Loves that I am the planner and money saver, and knows that I will make the most of our time at WDW. Is really enjoying his new found career, loves his remote control cars, and LOVES spending time with me and DD.

DD - "Princess Jasmine" - 9 Loves Disney as much as mom does. Enjoys helping me plan the little details, and can't wait to take this trip! Is a straight A student, who is wise far beyond her years. She also loves to read, but really enjoys her lifelike dolls that she collects from Asthon Drake, loves her WII and her Nintendo DS and enjoys her time on the enternet. She is the LOVE of our lives!

and....

joining us for their second trip to the world

Dbro - won't reveal his age - Very quiet and very much a family man. Had been to WDW three times as a child, but just went last year for the first time with his family. Though you probably couldn't tell it, I am told that he had a fabulous time, and was actually the instigator for this trip!

DSil - won't reveal her age either! - A very wonderful girl! Very devoted to her job and her family and to a certain charitable organization. Thanks to me, is a new LOVER of Disney! Really enjoyed her last trip to the World, and from what I hear did an excellent job planning. She prepared a scrapbook of their vacation and it was marvelous!

Dnephew - "Lightening McQueen" - 3 This little boy is an absoloute Joy! I adore him like no other! He is so very smart and sweet as sugar! From what I could tell in the pictures I saw of his last trip, he very much enjoyed himself. He loved the characters and interacted like a pro! He loves Cars and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and I think his mom is going to turn him into a Disney fanatic like us!

Well, thats the cast. Next post will be the particulars of the trip!

Thanks for joining along!

I'm first YAY!!
SO sorry for all ur hubby's illnesses. Shame on the sheriff's dept for not paying out the $$$
There are a bunch of us all going in May. Many pre trippies for you to check out and we are even having a meet in Epcot on Sun May 17th if you are interested. Lookng forward to reading more!!

So, I left you all with a little history and the cast of characters, now I will give you the particulars.

We arrive on Friday May 8th (VERY late in the evening) and we will depart on Sunday May 17th (as late in the afternoon as I can convince my DH to leave!).

My Dbro and his family will arrive on May 9th (really EARLY) and depart on May 16th if (Dsil can't convince Dbro to stay one more night).

We are all on the dining plan and have some wonderful meals scheduled together.

We have decided that we will spend most of our time at Epcot as that is all of our favorite park.

We will have Season's passes, so there will probably be a lot of park hopping and possibly participation in a bounceback deal if one comes along.

The must do's are limited, as we have all been before, and we all plan on going again, but at the VERY top of the list is TSMM. Now, my Dbro and Dsil rode when they went last May, and said it was very enjoyable, however, they don't think it is worth getting trampled to get to. So I have decided that Dsil and I will conquer the crowds and leave Dbro and Dh with the kiddies to catch up with us later, possibly in front of GMR.

I plan on being at rope drop daily, possibly taking an afternoon siesta, then heading back to the parks until close. I don't think little Dnephew can handle that length of time in the parks, so for sure he will be taking an afternoon siesta!

I do want to make it to DtD at least one day, because, it is tradition for me to hit Basin and spend WAY too much on Bath Bombs. Those things are the bomb, no pun intended!

I had planned on giving you all of our ADR's and our park choices for the day, but DH left early for a meeting and took my truck, so I guess that will be the next post!

Thanks for listening!

I am excited to see where are you taking this and I am sorry about your husband. Shame on those Sheriffs!

So, I left you with our dates and our general plan of attack, now without further adieu, I will give you our ADR's and parks for the day!

But first, where we are staying. We are normally AKL dwellers, but this is a long trip after a very tough year, so we decided to take it easy on our wallets and stay at POP! Dbro and Dsil had already decided to stay here too, so we thought why not be near by to make the touring plan easier!

First, since we arrive SO LATE on the 8th, there will be no ADR's on that day. Seriously, we can't leave Panama City Beach until about 5:30, so we won't arrive until about 2 a.m.

On our first real day at WDW, DH, myself and DD will be going to AK. This happens to be DH's FAVORITE park, so we plan on being there at rope drop and spending the ENTIRE day there. My Dbro and Dsil don't really care for this park, so that is why we picked this day to truly enjoy AK. Our very first ADR is for this day at none other than Chef Mickey's! Our ADR is at 7:00, so we plan on catching a bus from AK straight to the Contemporary. We will be meeting Dbro, Dsil and Dnephew there, but we will probably be early, so we firgured we would explore the Contemporary a little. In all of our trips to WDW, we have NEVER been to the Contemporary, so this should be fun! We will most certainly be tired after a full day of touring, so we will probably head straight for the hotel after this.

Our second full day, and Dbro and gangs first full day will be spend at MK. Hopefully, we will make it to rope drop and spend the day doing all of our favorites. DD really wants to meet the Fairy's, so that will be a must do for her! I am sure that DNephew has no desire to see the Fairy's, so they will probably explore Toontown during this LONG wait! Our ADR for today is at Whispering Canyon at 5:40, so we will take the boat over to WL a little early and explore a bit. Again, in all of our trips to the World, we have never been to this resort! This should prove to be a fun dining experience, and hopefully with such a large party we won't be stuck in a corner somewhere! After this, I hope to head to DtD, and I am not sure what Dbro and Dsil will decide to do. After such a long day, Dnephew will most likely be ready to head back to POP, but you never know!

Our third full day will be spend at none other than our favorite, Epcot! Hopefully we will make it for rope drop, or soon thereafter, and head straight for Soarin'. Dbro and Dsil didn't get to ride this last time, and I really want them to experience it, so we will probably do the child swap at this one. We will complete the morning on that side of the park and then head over to Test Track for another child swap! Once we finish that side of the park, we will head on into the WS. We will probably start with Mexico, and a Margarita for Dsil and myself and a beer for the guys. We will work our way around, probably quickly, and end at Canada for our ADR at LeCellier at 7:20. With such a late ADR, we probably won't make Illuminations on this night, so after the fabulous dinner, we will head on back to the room.

Our fourth day will be spend at DHS. We will DEFINATELY make rope drop this day, and if my morning goes according to plan, Dsil and I will head straight for TSMM for fast passes and then we will meet the rest of the gang at GMR. We will probably hop back and forth a bit at this park, as I HATE the layout, so we will see what happens. Our ADR for this day is at 50's Prime Time at 6:00. We are all excited about this one, and I hope it proves to be as fun as we think it will be! After that, its probably back on to the room!

Our fifth day will mean up early again. We have breakfast ADR's at O'hana for 9:05. I think we will probably hit MK again since it is so close, but we will finish our day at Epcot. Our dinner ADR is at Teppan Edo at 6:00. We know this one will be fun, because we enjoy our Japanese steakhouse here at home. Hopefully on this night we will be able to catch Illuminations and then off to bed!

Our sixth day will be a sleep in day. We will take it easy in the morning, maybe swim and relax, and then head to Epcot around Noon. We will just be taking it easy this day, as I am sure we will all be beat from the MEGA touring we have been doing the past several days! Our ADR this day is at Garden Grill at 5:50. After that, maybe DtD or maybe straight to bed, who knows?

Our seventh day I haven't decided on yet. We know we will end up at Epcot as our ADR for this day is at Coral Reef at 5:40. This is Dbro and Dsil's last day, so maybe I will let them decide. (After all, I have made this little schedule and haven't even shared with them yet, so maybe they can put their two cents in!)

Our final full day will be spent split between Epcot and AK. We have lunch ADR's at Akershus at 12:10 (shhhhh, DD doesn't know yet!). After that we will wrap the day up at AK. And, if DH and DD aren't too wiped, we will head to DtD for some final purchases.

Well, that's the plan as it stands, but I am sure there will be some changes before the DAY!

Oh, and I forgot the mention, we will be celebrating my birthday and Mother's Day as well!! What fun!!

Found your PTR and am subbing. popcorn::

Your plans sound great so far! I like your choice of ADR's too.

Woo Pop! I love Pop!
We are staying at AKL for the first time! :simba:
Your plans look great!

Thanks for joining along MaryAz! That would be so much fun to meet some people from these boards. Some people who share my obsession with WDW!

Well, I don't have much new to report! Except, only 62 days to go!! Wooooooo Hooooooo!!!

I went out and bought my PassPorter and started filling in some of the blanks, what fun it is to look through the book and start making those first entries!

I also subscribed to TourGuide Mike! I am happy to report, I don't need to make any major changes to my agenda, because our park days are falling right in line with what he suggests!

And now for the confession, I went shopping and bought all of our toiletries!! HeeeHeee! I know, its kind of early, but seriously, they were calling my name when I passed all of those types of supplies! I already have them packed away in the toiletry bag, and I only have to add a few things!

Next step, new crocs for the whole gang! They are having a great sale right now, and free shipping on a purchase of $75 or more, so why not?

Then, it is time to hit Ebay for those gigantic pin purchases, which we will use for trading. DD doesn't want to trade any of her special pins, and I don't blame her, so I thought I would buy a whole bunch on Ebay, and she can trade those! I am also going to purchase a pin trading book, and perhaps some adorable boutique items for her to wear! Perhaps I will even buy her and Dnephew a few matching shirts to wear!

Oh yea, I also visited the famous Dollar Tree and bought dozens and dozens of glow in the dark items to use during parades and fireworks. While I was there I found all sorts of Disney related items to bring for the kids while we are waiting in line or waiting on our meals.

Now, I need to purchase some ponchos, start putting away small bills for mousekeeping tips, a little larger bills for dining tips, quarters for laundry(yuck) and quarters and pennies for the penny press machines. I think DH and I are going to Aeropostale and Old Navy tonight to start purchasing some summer clothes for all of us, and perhaps we will visit the Nike store for some Shox for all of us.

Anyhow, I can hardly stand it anymore! We are only 62 days out, and it is getting more exciting as each day passes!

I too am guilty of buying toiletries in advance. :) I go to our discount stores and when they are on sale I stock up and have a separate bag for our items that are going to Disney! :cheer2:

Love the Passporter too. I think it is my favorite planning guide out of all the ones I have seen so far. I have TGM too but the information isn't out yet for my September trip and I can't figure out how to include the information for my May trip. Wonder if you can only do one trip at a time there? :confused3
Thanks for the tip on Crocs being on sale. I am checking out the website today!

Happy planning.

Well, sorry guys, I went MIA for a while! Life has been hectic and busy and any other synonyms you can think of! And my oh my how things have changed, well, not that much really, but a little! DH cannot go with us now, as he cannot get the time off from work, so for our immediate family it will just be me and DD! We have done some mother daughter trips before, and really had a great time, so I think we will be just fine!

As for updates, well there isn't much to report as everything is in place a set for launch! I started putting clothes to pack on a shelf in my closet, so I guess you could say I have started packing! I never got to order those Crocs, so it looks like we will be going this weekend to find some comfy shoes to wear! I got the pins and the pin trading book, so those are ready to go.

Anywho, only 14 days to go, and I will surely be back before then with little tidbits about what I am up to as far as planning is concerned!

10 DAYS! I cannot believe it! In ten days we will be on our way to the most magical place on earth! My DD is so excited she can hardly contain herself!

I packed all of the toiletries quite some time ago! I have started packing the clothes and the park bags. I have the camera batteries charged!

I cannot wait!
