Thus, June 7
This morning finds us going to the Magic Kingdom EMH. We leave PoP at 7:15 and once again the bus service is first rate. All week the buses have been prompt and we haven’t had to wait more than 20 minutes. One thing that I have noticed is that the buses are playing canned music, we have heard Star Wars, Grease, and Hound Dog coming and going from the resort. I miss the interaction of the bus drivers.
We FP Space Mountain and go to infinity and beyond with Buzz Lightyear, Alison’s favorite. I come in second with 47,500 points.
Next is one of our favorite 3d’s, Philharmagic. This is so well done and we love all of the classic Disney animations. I did notice some small children were frightened by the noise, each parent has to make a judgement call, not easy.
We next subject Scott to IASW, but he takes it like the trooper that he is.
Alison and I are both Disney fanatics, but Scott is being a good sport.
Bringing the fiancé along is a good way for all of us to get to know each other better. Scott is passing the test with flying colors. Any dads out there with daughters know what it means to see your little girl fall in love with another man.
We now use our FP for Space Mountain, walking past a line clear out to the entrance. The crowds have been manageable and we use FP to see the big attractions. We are ready for a break, we ride TTA to relax, a family tradition.
We eat at the launching Pad and I have my first turkey leg. It is so good that Scott wants try one, but it will have to be later.
We travel to Adventureland and walk through the Treehouse. Jungle Cruise FP machines are down, so we wait 40 minutes to ride. Our skipper is a middle-aged man and doesn’t have the enthusiasm we are used to in skippers. Those of us in the back of the boat are listening to the skipper in the boat behind us. We proceed to the Tiki Room and do NOT like Gilbert Gotfried’s voice.
It’s now 1:30 and we decide to head back to PoP for a rest, but first treat ourselves to a DoleWhip. I cannot stand pineapple, but these things are good!
During these mid-day breaks I download the pictures from both camera cards and then take a nap.
It’s 4:30 and we head to EPCOT to see Iluminations. It has started to rain, a lighter rain than yesterday, but it still requires ponchos. We ride Mission:Space, the orange side.
The standby for Test Track is 120 minutes and the FPs are gone, so we ride Universe of Energy.
I was videotaping the outside of the building and was in the process of putting the video camera away when a CM grabs me by the arm and says no video! I was probably the 100th person he had to tell this to, but I almost dropped the camera in surprise. He was having a lees then magic day, so I walked on in to join the kids. I have noticed this trip that they are aggressively banning all types of photography in the attractions.
We eat at the Electric Umbrella and I have a cheeseburger combo. For some reason this burger is better than the one I had at Pecos Bill’s, perhaps they use a different preparation.
We get our armbands for the evening and stake out a place for Iluminations. With light rain there is no crowding and we a good spot between Mexico and Norway. Magically, the rain stops and we are treated to another Disney spectacular.
We go to Norway and sit for a while to let the crowd thin out. We decide to experience Maelstrom and are appalled by the trash strewn along the queue. Instead of using the available trashcans, people were throwing their napkins and straws all over the carpet. We sample some Norwegian pastries, raspberry tarts and lefse, a rolled cinnamon bread. It is 11:15 and we are ready for bed. On the way out I notice Soarin’ is still a 40 minute wait. What a great day we had.
