A Trail of Tears from Louisiana to WDW & Back Again! New PTR Link 8/15

:)
After Brady was done going green, it was time for Shelby to get her 1st haircut! Now she doesn't have much hair, but I could have cared less. I wanted her 1st haircut to be at Disney. The lady, Penny, was really nice & we tried to get Shelby to sit on her own, but she was not having that at all. So she sat on my lap. She got covered in Mickey stickers & a toy to play with (not to keep) so she could cut Shelby's hair. Here are the pics, enjoy! And to anyone who is curious, it was $7.50 to get Brady's hair done & $18 for Shelby to get her haircut. Well worth it for me!
And the certificate Shelby received!

After this it was time to show the Princess her castle!!!!!

Penny did my niece Dakota's first haircut in 2008. She is sooooo awesome and so good with the kids. :)

Shelby is just too cute. princess:

Fast forward to June 21, 2010. I wake up bright & early & start TRYING to walk. I had to hold on to both beds & limped around for a good hour. It was like my legs & feet were on strike & would not move. I finally manage my way to the bathroom area & what do I see? Ben's wedding band in the garbage! So wake him up & ask why it was in the garbage. He mumbled something under his breath & went back to sleep. My thought was "Oh well, forget it. NOTHING is going to ruin my MK Day!" (He did dig it out of the garbage & put it back on a few days later, once we returned home.)
*****continued in next post*****

You are nicer than me. I would have gotten it out of the trash and hid it then made my DH admit that he "miss placed" his ring.

Men are funny like that. They say women are moody but I tell you that sometimes men have much worse mood swings than we do.

ummmmm......:eek::eek: I think I would have gotten up, gotten the kids ready to walk out the door as silently as possibly, then thrown it at his head as we walked out the door without him. Did he put it there on PURPOSE or did it supposedly fall in there by accident?

Now every summer, Brady wants a mohawk. I never thought my child would have a mohawk, but I refuse to fight about hair. It's just for the summer & he knows come school time, bye bye mohawk.

You're such an awesome mom! :thumbsup2

LOVE IT!!!

:love::love::love:
OMG I adore this picture!

I'm with you girl...there are many things in this world we will fight over with our children, but I too swore it would never be about hair!!:lmao:

Love Brady's...it's looks awesome....and Shelby looks like an angel!

Do I see some tears in your eyes in the pics of Shelby getting her first haircut? I know I would have been tearing up.

Sorry your friend had to leave early. Hope all will be ok.

But hooray for an update.

Both kids did great, LOVE the green hair, how fun. And Shelby adorable as always :cutie:

How cute that Shelby got her first haircut at WDW!!

I raised 5 boys and only one ever wanted the mohawk. After I did a horrible job of cutting it (did I do that on purpose? ;)), he ended up wanting it all shaved off. I'll never understand little boys :rotfl:

Wedding band in the garbage?? Hmm. Not a good sign at all. Hope it didnt get bigger then that. Aww the pics of Shelby getting her first haircut are soo cute.

Why is it older siblings like to terrorize younger siblings. Silly boy! Too bad you did not make it on ToT or F! but resting your feet was definitely more important since you still had plenty of walking and vacation left! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the great PP pics! I am planning on taking advantage of it since I ordered the cd already. :goodvibes Hopefully my family will cooperate!!

:woohoo: for the possibility of two trips next summer!! Two PTR--you could do a combined one and then two TRs. ;)

Goodness, the wedding ring was in the trash. Wow!! I sure hope things have gotten better.

I like Brady's mohawk! I can imagine he got lots of attention with it. Shelby's haircut pictures are wonderful! Did Ben take them?

Shelby did so well during her hair cut! We had Ashlyn's first haircut at WDW, too, and she FREAKED OUT the whole entire time. Nothing at all could calm her down.

Shelby did great!

He wants to play the TRUMPET!! :cool1: And also the Guitar (mommy plays!)

Hahaha!!!! I'll pass the trumpet on down to you!

I love that Brady got a Mickey and a Minnie!!! That is SO cute!

Shelby looks adorable with her Mickey ears!!!! She did great!

 about the wedding ring in the trash. I probably would have put it back on for him then and there!

She did wonderful!

Oh Penny is amazing! And thank you! And yes! Men are way more moody!!!!

Oh I left it in the trash can! I figured if he wanted to be stupid, I could be stupid too! He said he took it off (which he NEVER does) and it "must have fallen in".

Pick & choose the battles! Hair is not an issue. Koby's hair is long & preppy looking & Brady has the mohawk!

Do I see some tears in your eyes in the pics of Shelby getting her first haircut? I know I would have been tearing up.

Yes, there were tears!

Sorry your friend had to leave early. Hope all will be ok.

I have gotten pretty good at mohawks!

It gets way worse, but gets better again!

While Brady was going green, Ben & Koby headed off to
35906_129244380442355_1000007038153.jpg

This has been a favorite of Ben's since he was a little boy. As his mom tells the story once he rode it for the first time at age 7 he did not want to get off & cried when they made him. So, this is a MUST do for him. When we went in 07, Koby got to be honorary captain of the boat, so he loves it also. Once Shelby was done getting her hair cut, we realized that we had left her sippy cup back at the resort. So off to a gift shop for a sippy cup for her. Ben decides to buy this
100_2909.jpg

And Koby gets this:
100_2910.jpg

Then we walk out & what do I see?
100_2911.jpg

I grab Shelby & point. "Look Princess! It's your castle! Mama brought you home baby girl!" We could not get a good pic of it, but the tears were streaming down my face & she was pointing with a huge smile on her face! She knew she was home! (Wiping tears at I type this). Here are the photopass pics in front of the castle.

Now we are off to
100_2912.jpg

It was time for the Jungle Cruise! While in line, Brady gets this
100_2913.jpg

He thought it was a huge deal, but after I read it, I realized it was just to check the time on the lines. But I didn't tell him anything. He thought he got it special because of his hair. I'll let him keep thinking like that. Here is the boat we were on:
100_2939.jpg

Now today, we played it smart. Instead of running all over the entire park, we stuck to one area & then moved on to the next. Saved my aching feet tons of extra walking! After the Jungle Cruise, Koby wanted to do the Magic Carpets. Finally! A ride that Shelby could ride! Well, I'll let the pics do the talking.
Before we started flying:
100_2940.jpg

Once we started flying (Keep in mind that Koby was in charge & wanted to go up & down REALLY fast):
100_2947.jpg

100_2948.jpg

100_2950.jpg

100_2952.jpg

Yeah, so needless to say, we skipped Dumbo & every other ride similar to this one.

*********continued in next post********

Well after the Princess was fully tortured, we decided to do The Enchanted Tiki Room. I love this! But I love Iago & Zazu. And once again, there was no wait!
You can still see the tears in her eyes from the Magic Carpets while we waited.
100_2955.jpg

100_2957.jpg

It was nice & cool in there & Shelby was able to calm down. I love this attraction so much! Shelby was clapping & dancing! But by the time we got out & headed out, we were getting hungry. So off to Pecos Bill we head. Boy was it packed. I was going to go find a table, but you could only get a table once the food was served. So Shelby, Brady & I sat on a bench while Ben & Koby ordered the food. Ben got the taco salad, I got the double bacon cheeseburger, Koby & Brady & Shelby got the chicken nuggets. Remember how she did not eat the 1st two days? Well, it really IS a Magic Kingdom. She ate every nugget, all her grapes, most of my fries. She was my little piggy! My baby girl was back! I was thrilled! Now after we had all stuffed our bellies, we headed to Pirates. We get to head in line & who do we see? Pirate Goofy!
100_3003.jpg

Photo0194.jpg

Ok, I have to backtrack, as we walked to Adventureland, we took these PP Pics. Don't know how I left these out!!!

Ok, now we saw Pirate Goofy & we get back in line for Pirates. By this time Shelby wanted mama & that was fine by me! So while we waited in line, she slept in my arms & Ben got these pics:
103_0310.jpg

103_0311.jpg

Yes he was mad, can't remember why for that time. I'm sure him & Koby was fighting. But you will soon see that he got over it real quick.
103_0312.jpg

103_0313.jpg

*********continued in next post*******

After Pecos Bill, we did Country Bear Jamboree. I think that it's adorable & a great way to get out of the heat. It was wonderful. This is a must do for us from now on. Shelby & Ben at CBJ.
100_3018.jpg

Now on Pirates, Shelby slept the entire time. So when the drop came, I just held her close to me & she slept right on through it. Now after Jungle Cruise, Ben & Koby walked over to get fastpasses for Splash Mountain. Brady did this in 07, the very 1st ride he did EVER. He was 5. He freaked out so badly at the drop that he was crying & saying "never again". When we started planning this trip all he could do was talk about how he was not a baby anymore & that he was going to ride Splash Mountain & love it! So as we walk to Splash Mountain, who do we see? Woody & Jessie! The line was long, but I did not care. I wanted to see Woody & Jessie. And yes, I got the "we saw Woody yesterday at HS." My reply was, "But we didn't see Jessie." That shut him up & I won that one! HAHA! They left & returned twice before it was our turn. Now in line Brady kept telling me that he was going to tell Woody that there was a snake in his boot just to see what would happen. So it's our turn!
100_3011.jpg

100_3013.jpg

100_3016.jpg

Jessie loves Brady's hair & "tells" us that she will do her hair like his. After our group picture Brady says, "Hey Woody! There's a snake in your boot!" Woody starts jumping up & down, flipping out! Jessie goes check his boot & tells Woody that its ok, there is no snake. Everyone was cracking up. I love when they stay in character & play along! It was great! Now it was time for us to ride Splash Mountain. Since I rode with Brady his first time, I was riding it with him again. Even though Koby teased him relentlessly, Brady stood firm & told him that then he was a baby & this time he is NOT a baby! My boys waiting in line.
100_3033.jpg

100_3034.jpg

We don't have much of a line to wait in, thank you fastpasses! And what number row do they put us in? Number 1! Oh yeah, I am getting drenched. No doubt about that one! Let's just say Brady totally got over his fear & loved it! And yes, I was soaking wet! See, 1st row!
6-25-2010104030AM.jpg

Now we get off & Brady is so ready to go ride back with Ben. Koby is content to stay out with Shelby & I. Can you tell he was a little wet?
100_3036.jpg

While waiting, had to get pics of the princess!
100_3037.jpg

Ben & Brady last row on Splash Mountain:

**********continued in next post*********

Now after this & tell Ben that I want to do the Haunted Mansion. Well, we wind up getting lost, we get caught in a parade route. Now Ben & I's parade conversation went something like this:
Me: I want to see the parades
Ben: Why? I can see parades at home for Mardi Gras
Me: Funny, I have never seen Mickey Mouse on a Mardi Gras float & in all the videos I have seen of Disney parades I don't see them throwing beads & people flashing Mickey for one.
Well, by accident I won & caught a parade. While Ben was buying us something to drink, I was taking pics!
100_3042.jpg

100_3043.jpg

100_3044.jpg

Now Brady is standing next to me & I get a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and there is this group of teens from Brazil. He very politely asks, "Is that your son (points to Brady)?" I reply yes. Then, "May we take a picture with your son? His hair is very awesome & my friends & I love it." I reply sure! Brady is beaming!
100_3045.jpg

100_3046.jpg

After a few pics with all of their cameras, I turn my attention back to the parade.

So by this time, we are still looking at how to get to the Haunted Mansion, and Shelby is in need of a diaper change. While we are searching, we find a photopass photographer & we stop to take this:
Photo0197.jpg

While standing by the carousel, looking confused at the map, Ben says something to me that I will not repeat here, but those of you who are my close friends know what was said at this point. It was then I looked at him & said "When we get home, I want a divorce. This is the worst trip ever." And he storms off with Shelby to change her diaper. I start crying, Koby is hugging me. Ben is back & he is all smiles & I am giving him the worst looks possible. Since we are right in front of Cinderella's Carousel (I will not call it by the new name), we decided to ride that.

********continued in next post*******

Now I am still fuming at what was said, when when we get on the carousel. He rides with Shelby, I take the pics, as you can tell, I made sure not to get his face in the pics. Yep, I was that mad.
100_3061.jpg

100_3062.jpg

100_3063.jpg

100_3067.jpg

100_3070.jpg

If you read my PTR, she loved the carousel at the zoo, but apparently she had decided not to like any rides today! Who knows! After the carousel, the boys had to try this:
100_3072.jpg

100_3073.jpg

And FINALLY we found The Haunted Mansion. Wait time 30 mins, this was the longest wait we have had so far! My feet let me know it too!
100_3079.jpg

Brady waiting in line:
100_3096.jpg

Koby & I in our "Doom" buggy:
100_3099.jpg

Shelby rode with Ben & Brady & believe it or not, she liked it! Silly girl!
After we got off of the Haunted Mansion we are walking around & what do we see? A 5 minute wait for It's A Small World?! Hop on!
100_3123.jpg

Koby asked to hold Shelby for the ride, and we let him. It didn't last for long, but doesn't he look thrilled?
100_3125.jpg

Well, after that was done, which Shelby cried for, and shoot me, but I am not a huge fan of It's a Small World. I know it's a must do, but if was being refurbished, I would not be upset that I had to miss it. The boys wanted to do the Teacups. Another one that Shelby would hate. Ben & the boys rode in one & Shelby & I rode in the other.
103_0349.jpg

103_0350.jpg

103_0351.jpg

After this, we headed to the Friar's Nook for a quick bite. My feet were starting to swell, I was drained emotionally, physically & just wanted to go to sleep. So we eat & head back to our resort. Now since I had packed swimsuits, the boys had to go swimming. So Shelby & I took a nap & Ben took the boys to the pool. I really believe that they could have stayed in that pool all the time & not even headed to the parks. The date is wrong on the pics, but here ya go! Brady has the yellow lifevest on.

As I head of to sleep, I am determined to have a great day tomorrow at Magic Kingdom. And boy do I! Up tomorrow, Princesses, Fairies & A Kiss!

Oh! I also have a video from the boys on the Teacups, should I post that too?

I finally got caught up today, left off on page 14, took awhile but well worth it!!!

So sorry about your feet, I also alternate shoes wearing my tennis shoes and then my Keens.

Absolutely love the PP pics. You said you purchased all your pics? Did you ever say how much the CD was?

On our last trip we also missed Fantasmic, very disappointing. In January, on our next trip, Fantasmic will be first on the list!

Also love your honesty. I think fighting is unavoidable on these trips; heat, crowds, high expectations etc. We usually go with a large group to DW every year, frustration is inevitable!

Anxiously awaiting the next post popcorn::

:welcome: I purchased the PP cd, I was able to pre-purchase it for $99, but even if I would not have, I still would have ordered it. I think regular price is $149. And thanks! Like I said, it would not be a true TR if I left out all the fights we had!

Wow! I just read your entire report so far and I must say - I love it!

This trip report is so true and so real. I read this and totally thought of my wife and I.

I know everything will work out in the end.

Keep the pictures coming and the great writing! :-) LOVE IT!

:welcome:and thanks! Everything does work out, you can tell by the ticker. And when everything was said & done, I love you was being said again & we were back to talking nicely to each other & even holding hands! Of course it took a few days to cool down once we got home & talk about what had happened.

Awwww! It's too bad Shelby was not into any rides today but you never know how small children will react. It really looks like you got a lot done! My feet would be screaming after our long days in the parks as well. :scared:
