The year 2008 had it's up's and it's downs. Infelicitously, that 12 month span was fulfilled with memories I would rather not think about.

My grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year earlier. The doctor gave her three months, but being that the determined women she was, she fought it. We got into the year 2008, each day a different story. At that time I was a senior in a high school where if you did anything such as pass gas, you were suspended. She had good days and she had bad days, and sometimes she didn't even know where she was. Each visit with her was unreal and I didn't know if it was the last time I saw her. She went on like this for a few more months.

Around the time I was about to graduate, my other grandma went into the hospital. Her heart was working at exacly 32%, and out of no where she began her down fall. I visited her that Saturday in May of '08 and she was in Hospice that following morning. She passed away unexpectantly that Monday. As I missed those days she spend with my grandmother, my English teacher thought it would be funny not to grade my work. She called my mother at that time and told her I wasn't going to get my GPA up in time and pass. My guidence counsleor (who got fired earlier this year) thought it would be nice to call home and push the buttons of my parents as well.
I was scheduled to take my last finals ever as a high school student the days of the wake/funeral. I know what your thing, so what big deal. But it was. My principle wasn't exactly the creme of the crop. We've had countless of run ins with him the year before when he asked to see the death certificate of my Aunt due to me missing a week of school for her funeral. I kid you not. I was really upset at first with my grandma, and being told I wouldn't be able to take my final. But after countless argument across the phone, he reluctantly said I was able to take it the next few days.
With great relief I walked that stage and got my diploma.

Now, what does every kid need to do when they go through such stress like that? You guessed it, GO TO DISNEY.
My mom secretley booked the family two nights at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. We left right after I graduated.
I can remember everything, the sights, the smells, the heat (go florida!).
We ate the first night at the Rainforest cafe =], and spent the following day at Epcot. There we enjoyed a rather delcious dinner at the Biergarden, as I drooled over our hot waiter who worked there.

So later on, my other Grandma was doing bad. I had my bags packed at the front door step ready for the call. Amazingly she held on till September where the entered her in hospice. She died two weeks later.
We decided to take the family and celebrate a life lived for her.
My mom booked us some rooms at the Grand Floridian were we had a memorial type celebration. There we were suprised with a Magic Kingdom view no charge update.
We had dinner at the Ohana, walked around all the resorts.. and Went to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
