A Ticket/Fastpass Dilemma for July Trip

Four of us have AP's. I got a 5 day ticket for our grown son. Now he can join us for 6 days. We are DVC - no package.
I called and I cannot upgrade this ticket until we arrive. So I can only make fastpasses for him for 5 days and 6 for the rest of us.

Trying to think of a solution for this so I can finish making FP's. The 5 day ticket is currently linked to him in MDE. If I bought another ticket - a 6 day - could I unlink the 5 day ticket for him and link it to someone not going on this trip. Would the 5 day ticket expire as long as it is not used and just sitting there linked to a person not on the trip?

I would just make 5 days worth of fast passes for your son. Make them for the days with the hardest to get fast passes. Then, when you get to disney, upgrade his ticket immediately. Then make the last day of fast passes - you can even copy yours to his - pending availability of course.

5 days is a lot so wouldn't worry. What is your park plan and perhaps we can help suggest which day to have him skip on FP then just add him to those selection when you upgrade his ticket. I believe a MK day where you don't want to do 7DMT would be easiest to handle that.

Just clarifying you made them for him for all but 1 day as well right? You just said for the 4 with APs so wanted ot make sure you made his as well.
