Ok, feel free to laugh if you like. DD wanted to play in the powder room sink, no problem, I put the stopper if, she played and when she was done, I went to empty out the sink.

Here is the problem:
When I went to pull the stopper up, it came off of the pull part (technical name I am sure) so now there is no way to get the stopper out. We have tried teeny tiny screw drivers, thin pieces of plastic and even a strong magnet with no luck. It is a pedistal sink so I can't get up underneath to try and reattach the pull part.

So here is you challenge, oh wise ones of the DIS....help me get this damn thing out!!!! :rotfl2:

Of course the DIS can solve any problem, or so my kids think. I'm trying to picture the setup. Can you take and post a pic?

Would a suction cup help?

How about Crazy Glue? Can you carefully glue something to the stopper and then pull it out?

What kind of stopper? Is this the kind that is made into the sink and you push down the lever at the back of the faucet?

Get a long screw and a drill. Drill the long screw straight into the center of the stopper until it's about halfway in and secure. Take a pair of pliers or vice grips, grab the exposed part of the screw and pull straight up until the stopper is dislodged.

And if it works that will be $9.99 plus a Mickey Bar. :teeth:

I don't have a pedestal sink, but I can unscrew the stopper disk from the stem that is in the drain pipe. Maybe it's jammed too much to rotate, but it might be worth a try.

Can you get a little pair of grippy things (pliers, I think they are called) and pull up on the thing that came out?

Okay, sorry to laugh at your frustration...but to me this is hilarious. I am trying to picture it in my head and I have all my coworkers trying to figure it out for you.

If its the standard type of stopper then since you have a pedastael sink reach around behind the pedestel and feel for a bar running across. The part that came out attachs to this bar and its what actually controls the stopper. Push the bar up and the stopper will go up. To reconnect you will need a small screwdriver to reattch the long pull to the horizontal bar. Ours comes out all the time and its pretty easy to fix.

OK, if you have all finished having a laugh at my expense

Just kidding, it is hysterical or it would be if it wasn't so darn inconvienent!

OK, I am going to try brerrabbit's idea to see if I can reach it from the back, otherwise out comes the drill and Obi-Wan wins a mickey bar!

I will post my progress!

:scared: But.....some of us are not finished laughing at your expense......so, take your time getting that drill..... :rotfl2:

Eureka!!

I tried pushing on the bar with no luck so out came the drill. I think it must have been a case of strong suction because as soon as I drilled the hole, the plug popped out! Woo Hoo!

I only used 1/2 of Obi-Wan's idea so do I owe you $4.98 and 1/2 a micky bar? :mickeybar

:disrocks: I am a believer in the power of the DIS!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Actually it was DW MeanLaureen aka Lauri the Carpenter's idea so you can forward the $4.98 to her and I'll take the half of the Mickey Bar as payment for typing it out. :teeth:
