Grand Floridian Studio Villa vs. Boardwalk Studio Villa

Which Villa should we choose??

My wife and I are planning a trip to WDW in 2019. We are struggling to decide if we need to stay at the DVC villa in GF or BW. We will have five people on our trip. Three adults and two children (9&7).

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

And depending on dates, odds of either may be quite low even if you intend to rent points. There are owners who get shut out at VGF.

I'd go for a 1 bedroom villa. Although it's twice the cost, it's more than twice as convenient when you have more than 3 people.

I will add my vote for something bigger than a villa for three adults and two kids. Perhaps a 1BR villa?

As to which location, it depends on which park you plan to spend the most time. For the adults I would obviously suggest one of the Epcot resorts. I am partial to the Boardwalk. For the kids, the proximity to the MK is probably better.

A 1 bedroom villa only sleeps 4, a studio sleeps 5. 1br has a king, and a full pullout couch. Studio has a queen, full pullout couch, and a Murphy bed. As far as picking between the two it would be a choice of where you think you will spend the most time. BWV is an easy walk or boat ride to both Epcot and HS. GF is convenient if you expect to spend most of your time in MK.

When Disney lists a max occupancy rate, it doesn't mean the room will hold that number of people comfortably, it means that's the maximum number of people they'll let you cram into a room before you've violated the fire code. I agree with others here, it's just not going to be a pleasant experience. IMO, the DVC studios were designed for singles or couples.

Given the choice, I'd go with a regular room in the hotel portion of GF or BW. At least you'll get two queen beds and a daybed, and much more floor space. When the sofa bed and pullout are open in a studio, there's very little room to walk around.

A 1 br. at VGF sleeps 5, it has the king, the pull out sofa pull out bed, and the pull down Murphy single. I only recall the king and the sofa pull out bed in BWV’s 1 br. - but I’ve only stayed there once a couple of years ago. Of the 2, I prefer VGF, but it is a much smaller DVC resort and thus the villas are less likely to be available.

BWV 1BR has sleep surfaces for 4. When booked on cash, it can only be booked for 4. Points bookings may book BWV 1BR for 5 but must bring their own bed.
