I opened up the TT this afternoon to take advantage of the good weather, and opened the awning to dry it out, too. for some reason I didn't lock the cross bars that connect at the top of the TT and go to the outside of the awning. I left them so they were slid down about halfway to the bottom of the lower telescoping bars that connect to the bottom of the TT.

Went out a few minutes ago to close it up, and I have totally screwed up the awning. There must have been enough of a breeze to push the awning against the TT. Since I didn't lock the upper bars in place the lower bars were pushed against them. Now the lower telescoping bars are both bent upward. I can't lower the awning in order to close it.

The only thing I can hope for is to be able to slide the upper section of the telescoping bars off the top end, then replace the lower section of the bar that connects to the bottom of the TT. Might be cheaper than replacing the entire awning.

Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Oh no!!! That is such a bummer. I hope you can fix it. Maybe Larry has some advice for you...

Is there an aluminum shop around that might have a straightener type mo-chine to help you out? They have come to my rescue in odd situations before with the RV.

As for Larry, he would tell you that was not the proper way to stow your awning, but you already know that.

Why go there.

Don't rule out just replacing the bent stuff. It ain't all that bad. I have had a stupid week too.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. It always sux to do something like that....but we all do. My most expensive dumb move was at the end of our Fort trip last December. I cut a corner too tight in my driveway and sliced open the sidewall of one of my rear tires on a brick headwall. Those suckers aren't cheap to replace either! I beat myself up over it, but what can you do?

Yee-ouch. Sorry that happened. Agree with others, though -- we've all been there in some form. Heading to Disney a couple years ago at 4 in the morning, I swung around the cul-de-sac towing the trailer...no big deal. When I got home a week later, I wondered why the street basketball net was all askew. I'd scraped the rear side of the camper along the net, knocking the net crooked, scraping down the side of the camper -- and I never noticed the big scrape the whole time we were camping, duh! I was at the Fort, after all.

You posted on the wrong board if you expect any help from King Larry.

I'm sure that I'm on Sir Larry's Ignore list. I like it that way. The only thing more satisfying than insulting someone who desperately needs it, is doing so and knowing that the person doesn't even know how he's being insulted.

WWLD comes on the Community Board...and posts...he just doesn't always admits to that fact

I bet I am on it now too after the way that he blew up on me... :thumbsup2

(oh my God! He blew up! There was Larry everywhere!!! It was so disturbing...)

Rob, you just had to post this knowing I'd match or out do you. ;) Let's just say, I owe Frank 1 handsaw and somewhere between 1 and 3 lawnmower blades.

On your awning, call your local RV dealers, they will have spare used awning parts from where people have done stupid things also. Like where their DS ran into the awning arm with the GC.

Well, it cost $60, but I got it fixed. The lower end of the telescoping bars slipped off, and the local RV dealer had some in their graveyard. It's back together again.

That's 2 bone-headed moves this year. That had better be my quota.

Were you trying to sharpen the handsaw with the lawnmower???

I wasn't going to mention the other one...;):scared::rolleyes1

Nope! Things always come in 3's! Good save though! $60 is chump change. And don't hate me cause I'm still in Larry's good graces! :lmao: I'm kinda lovable that way - so don't hate me......

Worship me!! :worship:

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

I'll soon find out if I'm on the ignore list. If I'm not there's no way he'll not respond to that.

Here's the key, guys. Nothing irks Larry more than a totally inane, senseless post. That got me on his list really quick. He doesn't even care if you disagree with him and tell him he's a fool. In fact, he thrives on it. But post something stupid about Kungaloosh in a thread about RV tire pressures, and you'll be on that list before you can even finish typing the reply.
