My FIL has never golfed a day in his life. All of his sons are avid golfers. Every single one of them has invited him to go golfing many, many, times, as long as 40 years ago. They have all told me that he has never accepted an invitation. They still invite him along, knowing he will not go.
Still, this guy will sit in front of a TV for 10 HOURS watching golf. He subscribes to the golf channel.
I find it very strange that he could be so addicted to something he has never had any interest at all in trying.
Then I thought " well lots of folks like NASCAR but have never wanted to drive", but then that analogy doesn't make sense. There could be tons of reasons why you wouldn't or couldn't want to drive a NASCAR car, not the least of which could be fear, but almost everybody could golf if they wanted to. Or, at least they could try to.
So, why bring this up? Well, I'm in Charlotte today, with a HUGE golf tournament in town, the FIL is also visiting, and itis POURING RAIN outside, and FIL has controlled the remote ALL day watching golf. Nobody will even ask him to give up the remote because they know that even if he does, he'll just be miserable all day, bringing everybody down with him.
So, we have 6 kids here today, watching DVD's on a 13" set, while FIL watches golf on a nice 32" TV..... sigh.
