I'm looking to take my first solo trip next February/March. Something I've been dreaming of for 10 years! (I blame The Dis...) :cheer2::hyper::cool1:

As I save towards that happy trip, I'm trying to decide how long it should be. This will be a completely new experience and I know I'll miss having my now 23-year-old daughter along with me. (She's saving for a big vacation with friends next year and can't do two trips. That's what finally opened up an opportunity to go on my own!)

So... If you have done a solo trip, what's a decent amount of time? Three nights? Four? Five???

the last few years I have done 3 nights / 2 full park days solo. This year June 2018 I am doing 4 nights, 3 full park days.

I started off with 2 day park hoppers but I never really spent that much time in California Adventures. Last year in 2017 I just did 2 days, 1 park and didnt go to California Adventures at all.

This year I have 3 day park hoppers but I plan to do Main park all day first day, California Adventures all day second day and Main park all day third day. I usually do park opening to 11pm.

I really enjoy my solo time in the park, its my chill out and relax time. I do table service meals, dining packages, rides multiple times in a row, shows, shopping, and everything and anything I want to do.

I'm leaning towards doing just 3 nights with 3 days in the park since it's the first time doing anything like this. Four nights sounds nice though!

And yes, those are all the things I wish to do! Ride my favorite rides multiple times, enjoy the restaurants I'm interested in, and watch all the shows and streetmosphere. Ahhh... :cloud9:

What time will you arrive on the first day and leave on the last day? I would consider a 4-night, so you get 3 full days in the parks. But if you will arrive early or leave late, you could do 2 full days plus the partial day. And when are you planning to visit?

I would likely arrive mid morning on a Sunday. I’m thinking of the last week of February or the first week in March. I see you go often (love your trip reports!). What do you think about that time of year? I don’t mind reduced hours since I’ll be alone.

I wouldn’t do anything less than three full days. I would love four just to take my time doing all the enjoyable little things!

Lines and shows still take a chunk of time, even solo.

By the way, your trip sounds heavenly!

I've had an annual pass for several years and I may go 3-4 times a year. also I don't spend all day every day at the parks so my experience is different.

I've gone 3 days and it felt too long and I've gone 5 days and it felt too short.

I'm in my mid 60's and do not have a fear of solo travel.

My Disneyland solo trips are only for overnight. That's all my family is comfortable with me being in SoCal alone.
Their other requirement is I stay on-site for security reasons.

I've had an AP for a few years now and from October to April, I go quite often. This year it's been 4 overnight trips and 1 day trip in Dec.
I generally do not go May thru Sept because that's family fishing season.

Since my airfare is free, it's fairly easy to book and go. Even if it's only for the day.
Day trips have to have flights that get me in the parks for a min of 7hrs.

Oh how cool! I remember reading your one day adventure in December. That's impressive. :worship:
I'm looking at staying onsite too if I can find a goodish deal.

Any chance you could consider traveling on Monday and doing the parks on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday? Mondays always seem insane in the parks for whatever reason.

Aw, thanks!

So, for crowds I would think they will be ok for your trip. It’s after Presidents Day and before spring breaks start. If you push it to March, you may be able to catch the beginning of Food and Wine (based on this years dates). And having most of your days on weekdays should help (but then again, the first Sunday of F&W could be more crowded). You do need to consider that time of year is still in refurb season, so there will probably be some closures; they will also be working on Marvel Land and the new hotel. But it’s hard to get a time of year without closures and construction!

Also, I’m obviously very pro-solo trips. You can get so much more done when you make your own schedule. I think you would be fine with a 3-night trip to be able to see and do everything you want. I mean, more nights and days are always better, but if it’s going to be a significant cost increase, 3 nights would work!

Book a room and then wait to a promotion to come out. That's what I do. The room rates are usually the lowest during late fall to early spring. With the Sun- Thur promotions it makes it easier on my fixed income.

This link will give you an idea of past promotions and when Disney announces them.

I also watch for promo's to come out and then I try to post the info for everyone here on the board.
Here's my info on this years time you're thinking about for next year.

My thought was there is a better chance of seeing some nighttime shows if I hit one weekend night. Right??

Aw, thanks!

I hadn't even thought about Food and Wine! That would be really cool!! I'll watch for news on that. Thank you!

And yes. I'll háve to brace myself for the refurbs. Hopefully it won't be too bad. We usually go in summer when nothing is down so this will be new!
