So guys....it seems that my dh doesn't think I have any clue about air travel and snow storms. He was booked on a flight from Ptovidence to Nashville (had a connection) at 7 this morning. Well...we got 16" of snow yesterday, on top of 33" from last weeks storm. So, naturally, his flight was canceled. His companies travel people got him on a different flight....canceled about an hour later. This is with US Air by the way. Well, he got booked on 4 different flights, only to have them canceled. The final one got canceled last night around 8:30. He figured the travel people had gone home, so nothing would be done overnight. He got up around 4:30 and checked email....no news. Went back to bed. Well. At 6:30 he asked me what I would do. I to.d him I would go to the airport...hard to get a flight from our house! Nope, he figured he would go clean up the walk and driveway and wait to hear from the travel people. Okay. At 7:45, he got the email sayi g they could get him on a flight at 9:30. Well, he hadn't showered, it would take at least 90 mins get there, after the snow yesterday. So, no, no way was he getting on that flight! Finally, at 8:30 he left the house, it took two hours to make the ride in....usually takes 45-50 mins at that time of day!,

The best thing that came out of this debacle? I got a 'you were right...I was wrong. I should have just gone to Logan at 7'....well, duh! Just had to share. He finally realized that I truly do know what I'm talking about!!

I would just like to go on record as saying, that the debsters had absolutely NO travel plans the past two weeks, and we were ensconced safely at home. :rolleyes1

Uh huh....sure. There was no one, not one person in your family, that was traveling in the past 10 days?

@goofy4tink..... I feel you! Last week, I was already in WDW, my DH got canceled coming in the next a.m. due to snow(I thought that was crazy, why?) we got no notification....(ugh) but as soon as i discovered,I was online and on the phone rebooking him for later in the day.... Funny, he could have also gone out early, like 90 mins. from when i discovered and called, but...he was at home....relaxing...not a care in the world, hadn't even put a toothbrush in a suitcase yet....(he was supposed to be on a a 6 a.m. flight the next a.m.)- needless to say he couldn't make that late night flight... so I got him booked the next day for a later flight...I had to call and prompt many times that day,he had to get to airport extra early and make sure he had an actual seat (duh) instead of standby...Then when he got there and checked in, I spoke to him on the phone, and he said, yes,no problem, he had a seat. Ok, great! what boarding #? (SWA) .....ummm..... he didn't get one,too close to booking time. (!!!) so he was sitting in the airport McDonalds, having a relaxing meal instead of hoofing it to a gate agent and actually getting a boarding pass (this is after numerous flights to Orlando had been cancelled, busy day)(!!!) so after some not so gentle prodding I talked him into finding and agent ASAP and getting that pass issued. He finally did it, but if I hadn't been walking him thru each step.... And then there is the trying to get home story...more cancellations..extra days at Disney (yay) and rebooking all of that fun..... cellphones make tis much easier than it used to be.... But I still think the next time this happens, he will still be non worried, and I will do all the thinking and scheduling for him.

I wish I could have booked his flights. But....his company mandates that their travel company be used! I could have booked a flight for him myself, earlier than they did. I think they go with the least expensive fares they can find.....but, you get what you pay for. So, because they went with cheaper fares, dh missed an important meeting....the boss wasn't too happy! Of course.....dh could have (and should have) headed to the airport as early as possible.

Where would our husbands (meaning the two men already mentioned as well as my DH, I'm not speaking of other men who are highly competent in the ways of airlines) be without us?

Goofy, you can't even change stuff around? DH's company says to go trough their travel people, but once that initial booking is done, when troubles start we can go through the airlines to change things. I've even been able to call the local travel people for help when he can't. Like when he discovered he was 24 hours late for a flight from somewhere in South America, ugh. For some reason he just cannot work out the international dialing from a cell that thinks it's in the US. Easier for me to call, and thankfully his travel people will talk to me!

Same thing for my company. I've only called the travel people when there have been long lines at the airport and I was standing in line anyway. They have been good at rebooking in those situations, but typically, I don't involve them.

My husband's company's travel provider will actually do their Southwest checkin for them at T-24, which I think is a nice perk (ours doesn't do that for us). But he was confused when he logged into his email and only had the confirmation email from them that they had checked him in. For some reason, he thought that email was the boarding pass! And he argued and argued with me that it WAS the boarding pass, even though it didn't look like a boarding pass, didn't have a boarding number, etc. I practically had to beat him into submission and make him go to the SWA website to print the boarding pass (and then we had the argument over SWA's stupid website and how the only way you can print a boarding pass is to press the Check In Now button, and he'd already checked in so he can't check in again, blah blah blah). I swear, I almost asked him for a divorce. LOL. Men.

Nope. Not allowed to do anything! I've found cheaper flights, with better times...but, no. They do it their way...even if its not the best way!!

So glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with a guy like this!
