A silly VWL question.

When going over to the MK in the a.m. would you take the boat or the bus? Where does the bus drop you off? We have never used disney busses before and I think I convinced DW to give it a try. Thanks . :thumbsup2

The buses drop you off in the same general vicinity of the boats and the monorail. All of them converge on the area just outside of the entrance to main street. When we stayed at VWL last January we used both. Your typically better off going with the buses for speed (unless you catch the boat at the right time) but the boat ride is much more enjoyable. Have fun!

The boat stops first at Fort Wilderness, then goes to MK, so if you're in a super-duper hurry, I'd take the bus. But the boat ride is so much nicer - beautiful scenery!!!!! And just a more fun experience overall. If you're leaving VWL by 8:20am or so, for a 9:00am MK opening, you'll have plenty of time to take the boat.

Either way, have a great trip - VWL are my favorites - we were there last week!!!

I agree with the above posters. I think there are also small and large boats (going different places). Just ask to make sure you have the right boat.

Off subject, can I ask a question? I see from your sig you have stayed on site 6 times in the last 10 yrs. and have not ever been on a Disney bus :confused3 ?

When we go, ususally every year and usually on site (always now since we are DVC members), I look forward to parking the car at check-in and not moving it until check-out. :thumbsup2

SFLTIGGER.....we do just the opposite...we rent a car every trip because we simply can't deal with the amount of time we waste by waiting for buses, boats, etc. We do occasionally take boats simply because they are relaxing, but, the last time we used the buses we were staying at SSR and just for the heck of it decided to take the bus to Epcot.........bad choice ......our trip back took almost an hour...by the time we waited for a bus, etc. If we had our rental we would have been back to SSR in about 15 minutes. After that incident my DH said "NOW I remember why I always insist on renting a car"!!

I may be the only one to do this, but I like to take the smaller boat to the Contemporary, and then walk to MK from there.

We always rent a car and take it everywhere. My wife has heard all of the horror stories about how long the busses take. I am still not 100% if she is going to get on one this time. We will use the car to go to DTD.

"How long the busses take" is probably a function of mind set. At most resorts, we usually have a 20 minute wait or less for a bus...often much less than that.

I guess it depends on how much of a hurry you are to get somewhere. We use the Disney transportation extensively (except for resort-to-resort trips or DTD) and find it to be amazingly efficient considering their task each day.

Good luck on convincing your wife....I think you will find that it's kind of nice to leave the driving to someone else, and to have a nice air-conditioned bus to climb into rather than a hot car. (can you tell we have only gone during the summer months so far?) :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We've taken the bus, boat (both large and small) and driven. Driving can be quicker depending on where you actually park but I'm not convinced it's any faster overall. The bus is nice because of where it drops you off but sometimes you can have a long wait before getting the bus. The boats are the most pleasant for us and since we aren't in a hurry these days that is the way we prefer to get from WLV to MK. Oh, we've also taken the boat to the Contempary and walked over to MK. In fact, if we are in the park at closing time we often walk to the Contemporary and catch the boat back. Over the years this has proven to be a good way to get back at the end of a busy evening at MK.
