Afternoon breaks!

Do you swim and then nap, or nap and then swim?? :teeth:

Just a little discussion DH and I were having.

TIA

I personally like to nap/rest first. I am not one who wakes up rearing to go right after a nap, I am usually groggy and need some time to completely wake up. I like to use the swim to wake up completely, then after the swim I take a quick shower and I am ready to head back out. Also, my hair always has "bed head" after a nap  , so if I would swim first, I would have to change my clothes to swim, change back into dry clothes to nap, and then shower to get rid of my bad hair. It is just much easier to nap first, swim second.

We go to parks before opening. Then head back to hotel around 2pm, put our suits on and kids & DH swim first. Cools them down after a hot day at the parks. While they are swimming, I go get drinks & snacks for everyone. Then I usually hop in with them. We spend an hour or so swimming, then go back to room.

Everyone then takes a shower & naps. We wake up around 6pm, get dressed, head back to park around 7pm. Our dinner ressies are usually around 8-9pm. We watch fireworks, parade or whatever. Maybe ride a few more rides if we feel like it, then head back to hotel.

Repeat as necessary!

About the same here, we are at the parks for opening :sunny: , we go around & do all the things we have planned for the morning, stop for a quick bite at the park (depending where we are), then it's back to the hotel for small break, sometimes we go pooling, get changed for dinner, then a parade, and fireworks. Varies some days since we will be staying again at WL, we like to do fishing too at Fort Wilderness, then shower, cause it can be a little buggy there.

But.....we always take some time to unwind & rest before heading out to the parks again for the evening ::yes::

I think I prefer to swim first and then nap, but it is more practical to nap and then swim, when it comes to getting dressed to go back out again!

The reason I asked is because EVERY time DH always tries to get us to nap first. He loves his sleep, so this is usually his plan to just get everybody to sleep, and then not wake us up to swim. SO he gets a longer nap! :teeth:

It just got me curious as to what everyone else does during their breaktime. :sunny:

Sometimes we do neither. Sometimes we swim-nap-swim. However the mood strikes, I guess!

Depends on everyone's mood. Normally if it is a really hot day, the kids jump in the pool for a few minutes to cool off. Then nap, then we usually swim again, shower and go back the parks.

We usually also get to the parks just before opening and then go back to the hotel after lunch. When we went last time w/ our girls (their first time) my DH would generally fall asleep on the bed waiting for our girls to get their swimsuits on.... so I'd take them to Stormalong Bay while he slept :rotfl: When he was all refreshed and I was wiped out :rotfl: we'd go back into the parks for dinner/after dinner :)

We do go swim, but most days, my kids refuse to nap, even if they're tired, because they're so hyped up. I wish I could convince them to actually nap.

Swim then nap. We are hot and sweaty after a morning in the parks, and I refuse to get into bed all sweaty and gross, so it's swim, shower, nap!

We napped, then swam. Which is how we convinced the kids to nap - if they didn't lie down quietly for X amount of time, no swimming. Never had to actually carry out the threat - DD loves the pool so she was good and DS was sick, so he gladly napped. Actually refused to get up to swim one day.

the first few trips we never left the parks. now we do. we usually have lunch then swim. or sometimes we would go over another hotel for lunch. one year we went to visit a couple of hotels. we kinda just relax and then head back to the parks..........

We just nap. When we traveled with kids we had them nap first and the faster they got to sleep the faster everyone could go swimming.

This has to be the dumbest thread I have ever seen on here. This site is really starting to suck.

Isn't it past your bed time? :stir:

I think I like to swim first and then nap. It feels so much better to go to the pool when I just came out of the hot parks vs coming out of a cool hotel room. Also it seems if I nap first than I don't really feel like swimming.

We usually just nap/rest during our break. My son is getting at the age of resisting naps (5). We will hang out, watch TV, etc. (we have 2 rooms) for a while while dh and dd2 naps then go back to the parks for a couple of hours, have dinner then go back to the resort to swim until we are ready for bed.

We nap then swim if we get up in time for a swim. When DD was younger 7- 13 she had to at least quietly read for an hour before swimming. When we was there last week she sunned by the bowling pin pool at POP which I had a full view of just as soon as I stepped out my door so she knew she'd best be bathin in sun and not in pool.

I also know even in the heat of Florida in June DD is often cold layin in the sun warmed her a bit and she rested good down there by the pool.

We don't usually nap, that's a rarity. If we go to the park first thing in the a.m. we take an afternoon break sometime between 12 and 2. We usually have a nice quiet lunch some place, perhaps take a swim, or go shopping, minature golf...something like that. Something non-park. Naps just don't happen for us, but we don't have kids. I think kids would wear us out, plus they need naps themselves. We like to take a break during the hottest part of the day and then return later that night for fireworks or parades and EMH if it's happening.

Sometimes we'll opt to not start our day in a park. We'll swim, shop, go to Fort Wilderness, resort hop...something non-park in the a.m. Then we'll go to the parks in the afternoon or after a late lunch/early dinner. We can't handle a whole day in a park at once. I'd say the longest we'll stay at one time is 5-6 hours.

This will be my first trip where I've actually had the insight to take BREAKS in the afternoon! :cool1:

And I'm really lovin't he idea of hopping in the pool for 30 minutes to cool off, going back to the room to nap (I have a DD2), and then going BACK to the pool for an hour or so to "wake up", because I am one of those people who doesn't wake up feeling very refreshed right away!

Thanks for the great idea!!! :goodvibes
