Hello and welcome to my first ever dining report!:cool1: After lurking around these boards for a quite a while I decided to take the plunge and write my own. This is going to be a short and sweet but mostly savory report! I just returned from 3 nights at All Star Movies. This food report will include, a lot of F&W booths, a culinary demonstration, my first ever signature and some of my favorite snacks!

So who are we? Let’s go ahead and introduce the cast!

First is myself, Lisa. I’m a 23 year old nurse from NY. I love everything food, wine and Disney. This is our second trip for food and wine and I've lost count of my total Disney trip number.

Next is Mom. She meet me for this quick trip. She currently lives in Jacksonville, FL and is a newly AP holder. She loves Food and Wine too but her absolute favorite is Flower and Garden. Mom has been visiting Disney world since it opened.

Also we had very good timing for one last picture in front of the hat since the news was released the next day!

Now you're probably wondering where we ate? Here's the list! This will also be the table of contexts!

Now as Peter Pan says Come on everybody! Here we Goooooooo! pixiedust:

Be Our Guest & Aloha Isle

Unfortunately for our first meal I completely forgot to take a picture of the food! We had lunch at Be Our Guest. They were only taking fast pass reservations. We showed up for our 1:30 reservation right on time but had to wait 15 minutes just to order! We really wish we had done the pre-order since those guests got to jump the line!

As for food we both ordered the same thing, a favorite from the last trip, Carved Prime Chuck Roast Beef Sandwich- Served warm on a Baguette with Horseradish Sour Cream and Pommes Frites.

We love this sandwich! My roast beef was cooked perfectly! I ordered mine with green beans and mom got the fries. The green beans were nice! They still had a crunch to them, not overcooked at all. I did add a little salt. We both asked for extra horseradish sauce which we think is the best part! Food picture courtesy of the Disney Food Blog!

We sat in the rose gallery and it was wonderful! Much quieter than the ballroom and not super dark like the west wing. Overall we gave this lunch a solid 8/10.

Aloha Isle
Later that afternoon I had to get my favorite snack! A Dole Whip Float. As you can see by my shirt, I pineapple dole whips! Also if you’re curious I bought the shirt on etsy!

This was probably the longest line I waited on all day! Our secret is out! I got the vanilla and pineapple swirl float with pineapple juice. Easily a 10/10 for me!

Sanaa

This was probably one of the most interesting/best meals I’ve had in a really long time. I convinced mom to try Sanaa with two things in mind, bread service and butter chicken. Did it live up to expectation? YES!

I started the meal with the White Sangria. “A refreshing pinot grigio and aromatic fruit topped with peach schnapps.

It was delicious. It isn’t a very sweet sangria. I would give it a good or a 7/10.

Of course we had to start with the bread service. Mom enjoys more spicier foods than me so we opted to get all 9 accompaniments. As for bread we choose the spiced naan, garlic ginger naan and Onion Kulcha. They currently are not offering the pappadum but they had another bread, wheat bread that had onions and cheese, unfortunately I completely forgot the name. We ended up having a ton of dip left so we ordered two more pieces of bread. (1.99 a piece for anyone interested. Two pictures so you can see all 9 sauces. We started eating before I remembered the picture.

Of the accompaniments our favorites were the Garlic Pickle, Tamarind Chutney, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney & Coconut Chutney. We give the bread service a 9.5/10.

For our entries I ordered the slow cooked Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned. My choices were the Butter Chicken, Fish with Goan Curry and the Basmati Rice.

LET ME TELL YOU! I was in butter chicken heaven! It was outstanding! I’m glad we ordered that extra naan cause i was sopping up the butter chicken sauce!

As for the Fish Curry, the white fish was very very good but found the curry sauce a little bit hot for my liking. Mom finished it up for me. I ate all the white fish and left the sauce and shrimp for her

The rice was wonderful! It may look bland but boy it was packed with flavor and spices! So butter chicken got a 10/10, Fish curry 6.5/10 and rice 8/10.

Mom ordered the Tandoori Lamb - From the Tandoor Ovens - with seasonal slaw and coriander khichdi.

Mom’s words were that it was very well cooked, perfectly medium rare and tender. She didn’t love the coriander khichdi but I thought that was the best part! It was very fresh tasting with a yogurt and herb component to it. She gave this dish an 8/10 or very good.

We were so full we passed on dessert. Lastly I want to talk about our server, Christopher! He was amazinggggggggg! He knew every ingredient and spice in all the dishes. We were so impressed with his knowledge of the menu. Along with being the most knowledgeable server we ever had, he was very attentive and friendly. Whenever I get to go back to Sanaa I will absolutely ask for him again.

Sanaa looks so good. We're trying in on our November trip. I want to try all 9 accompaniments, but I'm afraid we won't make a dent in it!

Sanaa looks amazing! I won't ever get to go while I'm traveling with my pickies, but maybe on a trip with friends some day :)

Go for it! We ordered extra bread just for that reason. We could have made a meal just out of the bread.

Sanaa is amazing one of our favs! The naan bread is good, I even saw a special that had it on the food network on how they make it :)

Hawaii

This is a booth I’ve been dying to try. Somehow we just never made it over there last year. This year it was our first stop! All food and wine menu pictures will be courtesy of the Disney food blog as I didn’t take any.

I had to have the pork slider. “Kālua Pork Slider with sweet and sour Dole Pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise “

This was super delicious! The pork was so tender and the pineapple chutney was the perfect accompaniment. Also I didn’t think the mayo was spicy at all. Everything blended really well together. Also I think at $3.75 it was a great deal! I could have eaten 3 of them and called it a day. I gave it a really good or 8/10.

Mom had the Tuna Poke with seaweed salad and lotus root chips.

This is a staple for her. I don’t like seaweed salad but I did taste the tuna and it was yummy! Mom loves the seaweed salad. I believe she said it has a nutty taste to it, maybe they use sesame oil? According to mom the whole thing works very well together. For mom this is a 10/10 easily.

Scotland

After reading these boards I added the Scotland booth to my must tries. I had the seared sea scallop with spinach-cheddar gratin and crispy bacon.

The picture makes it look great doesn't it? Unfortunately the whole thing fell a little flat. Lets start with the good. The spinach-cheddar gratin was wonderful! I could have had a giant bowl just of that! The bacon was yummy but I’m not sure it added much to the dish overall other than you know, bacon. The sear on the scallop looked great too. Unfortunately I found the scallop to be chewy, tough and overcooked. Scallops are an easy thing to overcook and when it sits in a heat lamp that doesn’t help. I ordered this just around 12pm so I was surprised with how overcooked it was since the line was moving. Mom and I agreed the star of the dish was the spinach.
We ended up rating this a 7/10 because of the spinach gratin. Also at $4.50 I think it was overpriced for an overcooked scallop especially when you comparing it to over dishes at the same price point.

This update is going to be a quicky since I only have two dishes to share with you.

First up is Canada

As you may know from reading these dining boards a lot of people have a strong love for the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. “ Made with Moosehead Beer and Smoked Bacon”. Even though it’s been on my radar for a while this wasn't one of my must tries this year, but it seems like that list just got thrown out the window and I went for it anyway.

So what did I think? I wish I could tell you I loved it but it was kind of a let down. The soup was very creamy and the bacon was good but the overall taste of pepper really threw me off. The beer added a nice flavor component but I couldn’t even taste the cheese. Also I think they should pour the soup to order. Ours had a film over it and at the height of the lunch rush it was unacceptable. Overall it was just too peppery. Mom gave this a 7/10, and I gave it a 6/10. Thinking back now though I think we were being too generous. This won’t be back on my list for next year.

Next was my favorite booth/dish from last year! Brazil!

I once again ordered the Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato, and Cilantro. This was the best thing I ate at the 2013 festival so I was very excited to have it again.

Once again it was a favorite, not as amazing as last year but very delicious. I found the pork to be much crispier than last year. All of the flavors blended so well together. What makes last year’s dish better was the Avocado. The avocado is not part of the dish this year so that was a bit disappointing. Also I thought my portion was much larger last year. The rating I gave the Pork Belly was a 9/10 compared to last years 10/10. Attached is my picture of the 2013 pork belly so you can see the difference.

Everything looks delicious! Be Our Guest lunch is at the top of my must-try for next trip and my mouth is watering over that bread service at Sanaa (even though I'll need to find someone willing to eat there with me first!)

I'm sorry you didn't like the soup as much! The peppery-ness of it is my favorite thing about it, but I could see if you didn't like that or weren't expecting it how it might be a turn-off. Having recently discovered I don't mind black beans I'm now so depressed I missed the raved-about pork belly! I imagine it was much better with avocado - everything is :thumbsup2

Love all the food and wine pics! I can't wait to do flower and garden. I wish we were going to be there for food and wine next year but we will miss it.

Sorry for the delay, like always life got in the way. This update will be quick. We had an afternoon snack at

L'Artisan des Glaces.

Mom and I both choose to have the Macaron Sandwich. I went with the classic chocolate while mom had the seasonal choice, pumpkin spice! Macaron Sandwich- chocolate (or for mom pumpkin spiced) ice cream between two macarons $3.99

This is an all time favorite of mine! The macaron is so delicious. Its got a great cookie crust with a soft chewy center. The ice cream is so creamy. Mom loved her pumpkin spiced option. This was easily one of the best desserts we had. It comes in a wrapper that looks like an old news paper. Go and try it!
