My daughter and I have both noticed that when we wear our Crocs around the house, we are constantly getting static shocks. Every time we touch something, it snaps! Anyone else notice that happening??

I thought it was just me. :confused3 I am a shocking :teeth: person anyway but my crocs make it worse. I still refuse to take them off. It works to get my kids moving. I just walk toward them with my finger out and tell them I'm armed and dangerous. :rotfl2:

So I am not imagining it! I wonder why that happens. I would have thought just the opposite!

They are great generators of "static electricity".
As you move across a rug and the shoes rub it, electrons "jump" from the rug onto your body.

The shoes also insulate you so your body stores the energy until you touch something metal that is grounded.

The spark is the instant discharge of your body's stored energy.

Tennis shoes work exactly the same way.

In the winter, when the air is low in humidity, there is are always more potential for building up static sparks.

Home Depot sells a product that you can spray on your carpet that will help with things. Also get in the habit to touch with wrist first it hurts less.

I have a metal carpet strip under the wood strip for the kitchen flooring (hope you can follow that) anyway....when I step off the carpet I always step on that double strip to get rid of the extra energy. You can hear the zap across the house. I alway use my wrist when I am going to touch something metal....it has now become habit for me. My kids and the dog are afraid of me :rotfl2:

I really need to get a life

Ditto! I actually fried my brand new ear thermometer yesterday with a massive Crocs induced electrical shock :rotfl2:

I don't even have carpets! I have 7 dogs, so I got rid of the rugs years ago. Hard wood and tile only. I have even shocked the dogs when I reach out to pet them! It really makes a loud snap!!

 Hello! My name is Laura and I'm a CROCS shocker!

I have so much static electricity in me that I get shocked off of the walls in my house and they're just regular ol' dry wall... :scared: And that is without the shoes, but it is worse with my Crocs and Holey Soles and like another poster said...winter is even worse. And I, too, touch with the wrist first to discharge the shock...it is much less painful than a finger tip...or as DH and I found out when he was happy to see me as I came home from work and planted a kiss on my lips...it was truly shocking... :goodvibes

So, to my fellow CROCS shockers...when is the next meeting?

I was getting shocked by my crocs early last week when we had a cold spell here in Orlando. I was wearing my crocs in the house, because the tile floor was cold! I was getting shocked every time I moved, and my poor dogs would not come near me! I took the crocs off (boo hoo) and the shocks stopped! Luckily the cold spell is over, and I do not have the heat on and I can again wear my crocs in the house!!!!

They should come with a warning label!!!!
