This movie came out last year, and after reading about it, I couldn't wait to see it. Well, for some reason, it only played at a few select theatres, none close to our area. It is now available on DVD, so I bought it, and watched it tonight.

Very different and a bit quirky, but I really enjoyed it. I told my husband ahead of time that I knew he probably wouldn't like it. I knew it wasn't an action-packed movie. Surprisingly, he started watching it with me and stayed with it till the end. He liked it, too.

The movie is set in a small town in the mid-west (it was filmed in and around Minneapolis/St. Paul) in 1967. It's a dark comedy, basically about a man's family life falling apart around him and making sense of everything that happens to him. The ending, however, was quite abrupt and left us thinking "huh??!??!"

Has anyone else seen this movie? Just curious what you thought of it. I really liked it (not sure about the ending, though:eek:) and I know it definitely isn't the kind of movie everyone would like.

It snuck in under my radar but it's Coen brothers so I'll have to buy it.

The DVD has some good bonus features. In one, the Coen Brothers discuss the movie and give some insight into it. They don't really say much about the ending, and one of the brothers even says that the movie doesn't really have much of a plot.

There is also an interesting segment about how the moviemakers turned a Minneapolis neighrborhood into a 1960s neighborhood.
