A Sensible Dinner - Pearlieq's Journal

It's okay - just jump back on the wagon for your snack and lunch and dinner today. You can do it!!!!! (Now the question is though - were they good???? :) )

Keep on
Chris

Dump the rest of the cupcakes off on DH's work. One could be a taste treat, but the rest are coming back to haunt you.

I don't think you pushed too hard last week, you did great. This is just probably a combination of being cooped up all weekend with a sick DH and having your meal schedule so out of whack at the moment.

Keep on trying, you can do it! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I'm here though...

Yes you are and that is awesome! Be proud of how you are here to help yourself. Those cupcakes have no power of you, I banish them! hehe! :sunny:

Glad you're here!

Pearliq, don't feel bad. I had to dump two bags of candy into the garbage can, UPSIDE DOWN, so I wouldn't be tempted to reach back in there. Both bags were 1/2 full went I realized it was just too much temptation. :sad1:

How are your kitties doing? The 7 week old kitten my son snuck into our home back in April is getting so big. She's so cute. She must be about 3lbs by now. I'm not used to cats though and some of the things she does throws me for a loop. Like last week, we started hearing meowing. She'd snuck out into the hot garage while we were coming in from the garage. She must've been out there one hour exploring before we finally heard her cries. Another time I was coming in with a big laundry basket full of towels, she was trying to sneak out & I ended up accidentally stepping on her. She made a horrible noise & bit the heck out of my toe. However, since those episodes she's quit trying to sneak out to the garage...at least for now. Hope your kitties are staying healthy.

She sounds so darn cute! I'm glad to hear she's healthy and happy and that you all are adjusting well.

8:00am

--9 fish sticks
--20 cherries

I wanted fish sticks for breakfast. Go figure. I'm feeling better today. I'm glad I was able to stop yesterday. I got the last cupcakes packed of with DH today. I don't feel too well this morning--I'm having spells of vertigo and nausea. I'm not sure what that's about.

12:00pm

--2 Lean Pocket Ultra sandwiches
--1 sf chocolate pudding
--1/4 cup herbed corn

My goal is to make it through the afternoon on one snack. DH is going to be gone for dinner tonight, so I'll have to come up with something on my own. He's been asking for chicken casserole--maybe I'll put a couple together--one to freeze and one for him to enjoy tomorrow while I'm at Bunco.

2:00pm

--1 PB&J on low carb bread
--1 100 calorie bag popcorn
--1 turkey kielbasa on low carb bun

I got really hungry again. After this I went up and dealt with all of my laundry, which felt nice.

4:00pm

--1 cup sf cinnamon toast crunch
--1/2 cup skim milk
--1 1/2 low carb grilled cheese
--1/3 cup chocolate chips

I didn't really need this. I don't know why I got snacky again. Still, coming off of the last couple of days, this is definitely an improvement!

I must say, I think pure chocolate is going to be the way to go for my sweet cravings. It seems to satisfy me without making me go totally off the deep end like other sweets. Semi-sweet seems to work even better than milk/dark.

6:00pm

--1 sf fudgesicle

Surprise, surprise, I'm not really hungry for dinner. I'll find something light later on if I need to, but for now I'm just going to try to finish the evening out. I feel a little bit better, a little bit less discouraged, though I am still pretty disappointed with myself. I had to talk myself back from a lot of eating today, but I'm happy I was able to do it.

I've still got a bit of the vertigo going on, though the nausea seems to be gone. I really wonder if I've got extra fluid from my sinuses throwing off my balance.

I got caught up talking to my brother on the phone for most of the rest of the night. We had a fun conversation until his 3rd after work beer caught up with him and he spent 20 minutes musing on why they listed the word "beer" on the label in 6 different languages and 5 of them were the same.

DH came home around 10:30 and neither of us had eaten. We briefly discussed both going out and fast food before letting the better angels of our nature take over. He fixed himself some Lean Pockets and I didn't eat--I had an appetite but wasn't all that hungry. So, it was a decent finish to an improved day! I'll take it!

Morning Pearlieq!

Sometimes we want just what we want! Fishsticks it is this time! :flower:
Glad you are feeling better with the last of the cupcakes heading off with DH to work but I do hope you physically feel better soon, vertigo and nausea do not sound like fun. I hope you will get checked out if it does not lessen soon, just worried about you! :goodvibes

Have a good day!!
Mike :sunny:

Good morning Pearlieq! :flower:

Thank goodness those evil cupcakes are gone. I agree, good thing you aren't an alcoholic. However, maybe some of your yucky feeling is from an overdose of sugar. It may be a bug, but it might also be the cake syndrom that your body isn't used to anymore. Either way, I hope you feel better soon.

Hope that today is a better one for you. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you get to feeling better soon and it isn't the stomach bug that's been going on around here.

Glad you sent the cupcakes with your dh - good job!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Good job on sending the cupcake with you DH!!!

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Keep up the good work!

Great job on letting go of that last cupcake! NOOOOOOOOOOO I don't want to part from it. :rotfl2: Just let me smell it, Please :rotfl2: just kidding. You are doing fine. If going for the pure Chocolate works for you then do it. Have a nice night and a great day tomarrow. Kardiebelle.

Way to go on the cupcake = I am such a sucker for Publix cupcakes...I try not to buy them anymore! Hope you have a great day today!

Good morning Pearlieq! :cool1:

You did a great job trying to get back on track with yourself. Doesn't it feel great to get some other tasks done that have been put off for whatever reason? You can do this, I know you can.

Hope that you are feeling better today. Have a good one! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

9:00am

--1 cup light 'n fit yogurt
--1/2 cup rocks & twigs

Fun morning. DH woke up late, so he was a bit cranky and rushed, and I came downstairs to find a kitty mess! Nooooooooo! It had been so long! So, I got the duty of cleaning that up and then getting Magellan to take his meds. I gave them a half portion of food this morning. The last thing I want is for them to bolt their food down and get sick again. Magellan was doing this heaving/coughing thing for a little while, but it seems to have stopped. All I can say is choose the hardwood, baby!

I feel a lot better this morning. No more nausea and vertigo, and I feel like the sugar hangover has passed--I don't feel that same groggy depressed sick feeling. Hopefully this can be a decent day!

12:30pm

--1 serving chicken casserole
--20 cherries

I made the chicken casserole this afternoon--it's a big favorite of DH's. I added lots more veggies, used whole wheat pasta, and cut down on the cheese, but I did use the real Miracle Whip. You really can't duplicate that flavor! It turned out nice and creamy. I also have one to freeze now!

Aside from the cooking, I cleaned up the kitchen a little bit and got started on the laundry. The cats have been in rare form today--when they're not jumping on the counters they're beating the stuffing out of each other. It's so hard to tell if they're playing or fighting. I've read that if no one's hurt they were playing, because when cats fight they fight to win. I do worry though, especially when Magellan is 50% bigger than Diana.

It's a slow day at work--my jobs are stuck in the system and nothing to do until they're finished. I can't wait to be done with this job! I can't wait to be able to give up the pretense of logging in an being on call and just get my life back! I'm really hoping they're going to let me go soon!

3:00pm

--8 fish sticks
--1 kiwi fruit

4:30pm

--1 100 cal popcorn

6:45pm

--2 soy burger patties
--1 apple
--1 handful baby carrots

A little dinner before Bunco.

8:00pm

--1/2 cup strawberries
--1/2 banana
--1 T chocolate fondue
--2 chips
--4 cashews
--1 small piece cold veggie pizza

A sampled a couple of things at Bunco, but not too much. I have had my fill of neighborhood drama!

OK--Diana is doing the cutest thing ever--I wish I had a camera. When a DVD finishes in our DVD player, it goes to a black screen where the word "APEX" moves around the screen, boucing off the sides. Diana is mesmerized! She hopped up on the the TV stand next to the TV and concentrating really intently on it. Her little head is moving around the screen following it and every once in a while she very tentatively reaches out a paw and tries to bat at the screen. It's just so adorable! She's so focused!

What a day you are having with those kitties Pearlieq!! Sick, playing, fighting?? What next!! hehe :cool1: Hope your job ends soon as you wish too.

Your chicken casserole sounds yummy. You are right, there is really nothing that tastes like Miracle Whip. Weird isn't it! But a good weird at the right times. hehe!

Have a great night!
Mike :goodvibes

Good morning, Pearlieq! :cool1:

What a wonderful day you had yesterday. Well, in terms of food, maybe not in terms of the job. Your kitty watching TV sounds hilarious. I agree, neighborhood drama can get old after awhile. Fortunately, ours isn't so dramatic, but I do have people tell me about theirs and I am glad that I don't have to deal with it.

Hope today is a great one for you! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

HI!! Sounds like a full day yesterday - your cats must keep you in stitches....!! Have a great weekend!

7/29/05

9:30am

--1 serving chicken casserole

I'm getting a late breakfast today--I had a work issue to attend to first thing in the morning, they by the time I got showered and dressed and tended to the kitties and found one more thing and one more thing and one more thing to get to, I'm just now finally eating.

I did get a little gift this morning--I weighed myself this morning and it was only showing me up .5 - 1lb up from last week, which is a real relief! I'm always afraid I've completely blown it when I slip, so it's nice to know that even if I'm not moving forward, at least I'm not moving backward either.

Busy morning. We've actually got a pretty full weekend coming. I'm going to lunch with a friend tomorrow and then DH and I are going out to dinner with some neighbors. On Sunday my mom is coming over and we're having a Monk marathon. After how boring our last couple of weekends were I'm tickled that we actually have plans!

I'll be heading out the grocery store soon. I've actually got to hit 4 stores this week! Luckily they're all pretty close together.

11:00am

--1 light string cheese

2 stores down, 2 stores to go! I've been working really hard to match coupons up to sales and I rediscovered Aldi recently, so I'm doing pretty well in getting a lot for my money. So far I've spent $31 dollars and I got 5 100oz bottles of Purex, spinach stuffed rigatoni, light sour cream, light bread, light buns, 2 cantaloupe, chicken broth, tomato sauce, tomato paste, turkey sausages, baked tortilla chips, tuna, stuffing mix, and more that I can't recall now.

I'm trying to make a list of all of the dinners I can make with the ingredients I've got on hand so I'm not so tempted to go out all the time because I can't think of what to make. We're going to have to curb in the eating out when I'm done with my job and I figure there's no time like the present to start!

1:30pm

--2 slices light bread
--3 slices turkey
--5 thin slices ham
--1 piece 2% cheese
--16 cherries
--1 handful baby carrots
--1/2 cup sf jello

Off to hit the rest of the stores. I don't think the kitties are going to be sad to see me go. I've had "I've Got You Babe" stuck in my head, and since I'm here alone it's coming out awfully frequently and at awfully high volume. Whenever I get to the Cher bits Magellan wakes up from his nap and glares at me. I can't believe my own kitties don't like Sonny and Cher! :confused3

5:00pm

--1 South Beach peanut bar
--a few tastes cha cha cheeseball dip

Finally done with all the shopping! DH will home in about 30 minutes, and we can start dinner. It's a dip meal in 3 courses--cheeseball dip to start, turkey kielbasa and broccoli in barbecue glaze, then cantaloupe with fruit dip.

DH and I are having a TiVo night--we've got a bunch of Survivors, House, and Good Eats saved up.

6:45pm

--5 1/4 oz turkey sausage
--2 crowns of steamed broccoli
--1/2 cup barbecue dip (made of 1/4 cup Uncle Mels barbecue sauce and 1/4 cup low sugar apricot jam)
--about 1/3 of a large canteloupe
--1/2 cup fruit dip (made of 1/4 cup light 'n fit yogurt and 1/4 cup cool whip light)

This got me plenty full. I'll enjoy cheeseball dip a little later as a snack. I also made DH a batch of the South Beach peanut butter cups. I don't even particularly like peanut butter but they're heavenly!!! Whatever the taste equivalent to laugh-out-loud is, I had it!

9:30pm

--1 serving cha cha cheeseball dip
--1 pkt South Beach crackers

Yummy!

Hi Pearlieq,

Sounds like you had a good time shopping!! Way to track down those bargains!! Love that!

OOhh, I love that you're thinking of all the things you can do with the ingredients. If you want to hear any outside suggestions you have my brain going! hehe I just thought what a fun thread that would be... people post what they have in the house for food and then others post cooking ideas!! Hmmmm... maybe I will have to start that one up! I also love your dip dinner, what fun!! :goodvibes

I will leave you to a happy and healthy night with this....
"They say we're young and we don't know, we won't find out until we grow... " hehehehe!
