On the Jan. 31st Western Magic, Disney dropped the ball here! Upon leaving the "Dreams" show a little boy threw up in front of the gift shop on the marble floor. His mother was trying to catch it in her shawl. His father was frantically trying to get a Disney crew member's help because hundreds of people were coming out of theater and were all either walking right through it or about to. Apparantly I found out he told 3 different cast members. The mother was trying to direct the mass of hundreds of people around it while her 5 year old was crying and about to get sick again and her two year old was getting lost in the crowd. I felt sorry for her. She had no choice and had to leave because her son was about to throw up again. About an hour later at guest services, the crew was overheard talking about the woman that slipped in the vomit and fell face first right into it. I think she got hurt. The guest service crew were upset that nobody put a towel from the gift shop over it, or a chair, or redirected everybody around it. So much for Disney's care and precaution from NORWALK VIRUS! Who knows whether that boy was sick from motion sickness or NORWALK!!!!! I hope that lady that fell face first into the vomit got a FREE CRUISE! Does anybody know?

We had some rough seas on my second home (Cat 3 on the Dosney Wonder) the next day after this and more than one kid threw up in Animators Palate.

They poor CM's were cleaning it up as fast as another one spewed.....

Kinda like oil wells in old Texas " Thar she blows........."

I became very ill on Thursday night a few cruises ago - I didn't realize how sick I was until I started down the stairs at Lumieres and fell to the ground. Thank God my darling son was with me and he found a photographer in the empty lobby - how often is THAT area empty????? Not often! Anyway, the Guest Services came rushing with a wheelchair, medical person and I was very well cared for. Thankfully, my son (only 8) knew what to do and where to get help for me.

We never know when it will be one of us or our family who becomes ill - I am appalled that so many people did not help that woman and her sons when they were in such great need.

An terrible comment on people as a whole.

I just hope that the child and family recovered and the woman who fell has been fairly dealt with.

Wow, we saw that, AFTER the fact, and actually had a cast member who was a room hostess direct us around it....so they were watching, of course I don't know how long AFTER the fact this was...

That cruise had a couple of rough nights, the first one out and that Thursday...and one of the interesting memories is of a female CM coming BOLTING out of the mens restroom on Castaway Cay across from She Sells..., she looked at me horrified and goes "Someone threw up in there!".

I just looked at her and said "Oh..." as she ran off to find things to clean it up with....

*grin*

thats just a very sad story...i feel so bad for those people....

On a ship, people are seasick, dealing with vomit must be an everyday thing for the crew. I'm surprised they didn't have some of that "dry it up" stuff that we have in schools. It looks like sawdust, and it absorbs vomit so it can be cleaned up very easily. If our public school custodians have it, it must be cheap and accessible.

I agree, but the mere smell of that stuff they sprinkle on it brings back such memories and the need to hurl again. I am sure Disney uses something much more disinfecting than that. I hope all are doing well now. Its a shame that the woman fell down due to it. I dont understand why someone (a guest or two) didnt try to direct folks around it themselves. I understand why the mom would have to just move on with the child, but someone could have helped out. Maybe the fear of the virus kept them from it. ::MinnieMo

I'm surprised too that nobody stopped to help her with either redirecting the crowd, getting a CM or being sure she didn't lose her 2 year old in the crowd.
Those of us that are parents have all dealt with this at one time or another ::yes::, and it's not that big a deal. And even with being concerned about Norwalk, how is stopping a child from getting lost going to make you sick. :(

Goodness! Those poor people!
This reminds me of a time in Parrot Cay when a little boy sitting at a table a row down from us tossed his cookies at dinner. I was far enough away to just be an observer without being close enough to get the full effect. She immediately hustled the poor kid out. The sea was a little rough, so I think it got to him.
Hubby has his own vomit story, although he'll probably kill me for telling it. Once night, after he had downed most of a bottle of champagne and spent an ungodly amount of time in the hot tub, he told me, "I don't feel good all of a sudden, and I don't know what it is." When he described his symptoms, I said, "You're getting seasick." I'm not prone to it myself, but I know that distinctive headache and feeling because I get it if I read in a car. He said, "No, I NEVER get seasick." Then, a couple of minutes later, he yelled, "You were right!" and ran into the bathroom (I resisted the urge to say "I told you so"). Later, he decided it was the drinks, coupled by dehydration from the hot tub.

I was sick sick a whole day (on my b-day) b/c of the same side effects that Barb's husband had. Yuck!

We were on the same cruise but skipped Dreams as we'd seen it before. One of my boys and I both felt effects of the rough seas on the first night and that Thursday. Oddly enough, it was worse on that Thursday for us. Neither of us threw up, but I bet it was a strong possiblity if we hadn't called it an early night. I know if it were me, I'd just feel terrible if I were that Mom. I would have done the same thing; move the little guy along. I guess you could throw your shawl on it, but I wouldn't have thought that fast in the moment. Your first concern is for your kids.

I too hope the women who fell is ok.

Since we are talking VOMIT...anyone else ever had the almost *immediate* reaction to the cole slaw on Castaway Cay. Both the Americanos in our group felt the effects of the cole slaw. Perhaps because none of the true Italians in the family will eat the cole slaw. Those of us Americanos (s) who married in...and happily eat/ate cole slaw...paid the immediate price. One of us made it back to the ship, and I did not. ICK!

Anyone else have this happen to them?

We were at DL two days after christmas and while waiting in line for Alice and Wonderland a boy, about 10 walking by vomited right in the middle of a busy path. His mom just took his arm and kept right on walking. She didnt try to notify any cm's. About 3 people walked right thru it before I got out of line and started directing people around it. There were several very grateful people.

No effects from the cole slaw here!
As a matter of fact, I like to take a bag of K C Masterpiece barbeque potatoe chips, dip them into the cole slaw, and eat it that way. I have weird tastes, I know.
