Hi people! Here I am again with another rookie question.

I'm going to call Disney and become an AP holder within the next few days. I understand that they'll be sending me a voucher which I must turn in (at any park or DTD) to recieve the actual card.

Now, I was hoping (like so many others) that I can get an April code and add it to my reservations. I know that they won't ask your AP # over the phone but they do need it at check in.

My question is this: Will I need to go and activate my AP first, before I check in, or will they go ahead and check me in with my voucher?

I was going to arrive at POP first, settle in, then do the parks the following day. But now I'm not too sure If I have to stop at DTD or a park before I check in?

If anyone knows any info on this matter, please post. Thanks to all who took the time. :)

I don't know if things have gotten more strict but in '05 we checked in with our voucher and said we were going to the parks the next day. (which we were) Check in was OK with that as long as we brought our pass back before the end of our stay or we would be charged rack rate. We went back the next day and everything ws fine. Someone else may have more current info. HTH:)

I went in Feb of 07, had an AP rate and only had a voucher. They didn't ask to see anything at all...I offered up my voucher to make sure I got the proper rate. So as far as I can see, it may depend on the cast member that helps you.

Have a Magical Trip

I also had no problem with just a voucher in December 06.

I was warned by the CM that took my reservation that they would let you check in with the voucher but you many have to stop back by the front desk after it was activated.

Truthfully, I believe you will be fine checking in with just your voucher. We've done it numerous times ourselves. We have never even been asked to show any proof of AP's at check-in, but I understand they should be asking, so I am always prepared. My mentality is that if they ask to see proof, I will show them my vouchers and say we just arrived in Disney and I can swing by the desk and show them my activiated passes after we go to our first park. You will be fine -- don't worry! Have fun with those AP's! We've been AP holders for almost 5 years now and just knowing we don't need to buy park tickets for a whole year makes an extra trip easier to book, so watch out!!

If you check in without having the voucher activated (or without having any Annual Pass but plan on buying it there), you will be fine. What they will do is have you come back to show the actual Annual Pass or you will be charged the rack rate when you check out. So it's really no big deal.

Thank You all for the responses, it's just the news I wanted to hear! :thumbsup2

When we went in December, I asked at MK Guest services if I should activate mine then or in January when we were going. I was told at GS to check in at the resort. If they ask for it, show them the voucher and tell them you would bring it back as soon as you had it activated.

When we stayed at POR two weeks ago, they never even asked for it!!!
