Getting There

All of my hard working & planning is finally going to pay off. A RELAXING trip to Disney World. No commando style touring this year. No way Jose, we are going to RELAX this year.

Actually, the resting & relaxing will have to wait until we get there. Our flight leaves at 11:00 am on the 4th of July. Since my MIL will be driving us, we will have to get there super early. So, we are up & at ‘em at 5:00 am. By 8:00 am we are sitting at the gate, waiting to board the plane for our 11:00 am flight. We are the only people there. Even passengers scheduled to fly out at 10:00 am have not yet arrived at the gate.

This is great. We are so lucky! We can sit here with all 3 kids & relax. The first ½ an hour goes by pretty smoothly. No whining, no fighting, no complaining. After about an hour of relaxing, the Youth announces that he no longer wants to go to Disney World. He’s tired of it & just wants to go home. The Teen keeps grabbing my cell phone to run to the bathroom & have some personal conversation that she obviously doesn’t want me to hear. The Pre-schooler is still in shock that he is actually going to get in a plane & fly into the air. It’s his first flight & he is ecstatic!

I leave MagicalDad with the children to relax while I go look around the shops. I figured they’d all enjoy some quality time to themselves. See how I always think of others? So much planning & hard work is needed to make awesome Disney memories!

Eventually, after 3 fun filled RELAXING hours we get to bored the plane. Thanks to the Pre-Schooler, we get to pre-board. See, even spreading the birth of my children out over a period of 10 years has helped to make this A Disney Dream Vacation!

As soon as we begin to head for the runway, an announcement is made. Someone at the front of the plane is ill & we must turn around. As we approach the gate, the pre-schooler becomes very excited. He can hardly contain himself! “We’re in Florida!” He exclaimed. Why is it that my kids always expect modern technology to be even better than it actually is? After dropping off the ill passenger & explaining to the Pre-Schooler that we are still in Maryland we finally take off. When the plane actually lifts off of the ground, he squealed in delight as only a young child can.

The pre-Schooler has been planning for weeks to use the potty on the plane as soon as possible. He made it! First in line to use the Potty! He was so excited!

The flight was uneventful, but fun. We flew Southwest. They sang a couple of songs for us, served drinks & pretzels. The Teen sat with me. The Boys sat with their Dad. After about 20 minutes I started to notice that they were a bit loud over there. Some pushing, shoving, arguing. This is just how my Youth & pre-schooler play. MagicalDad sat next to them relaxing.

I was pretty grateful that I was sitting on the other side of the plane. Perhaps no one would know we were together. Let them think that MagicalDad is a single father to those two young lads. No one will know they are my kids! I leaned back in my seat to relax. A couple of times I thought I may have heard them yell “Mommy!” I just calmly looked around, wondering who those two wild children were calling to..

It wasn’t until we landed that I realized we were all wearing matching Donald Duck 4th of July shirts! Ugh! Everyone in sight knew we were all together. :rotfl:

Up Next, our exciting & relaxing dinner at Chef Mickeys!

That reminds me of my niece (5yrs old). She was scared of flying, until she found out that the planes have bathrooms. lol

Loving your trip report! Good to know that there's another Mommy out there who is as considerate as I am. :teeth:
